Electric Drums Noisy?

When i am not using out of politeness the Acoustic drum at home and got Electric ones instead and always putting my ear phones on... i still get complaints from the noise and they were actually going to call the police!

I seriously need to know what kind of noise is it... opinions please? As a neighbor... or as a drummer suffering like myself!

The vibrations of hitting the drumset goes right into the floor and through the concrete. Basically, it would sound like putting a nail into the wall (hopefully more rythmic...).

You should consider putting your drums on a platform that absorbs the vibrations. I don't think it needs to be too large. My brother has put his accoustic drum set in the basement of his house and spent quite a bit of money to build a soundproof room around it. It works fine - but you still hear some (very little) on the ground floor when he plays.

I have a set at home, and have put them onto a rug. They hardly make any noise - certainly nowhere near the volume of a typical TV.

It's true about the floor thing. I have to raise my speakers off the ground. A friend of mine in HK has a regular acoustic drum set, but has put screens in place of the heads (like the kind that go in a window). If he's playing live, he replaces them with real heads. It's pretty much silent, but yeah, there are vibrations with anything touching the drums.
