Dear all,
We are moving back to HK from Singapore. We used to stay in DB but with rising rentals in DB and growing family we wouldnt be able to afford DB. Plus last time we just got bored with very restrictive life in DB.
We have few queries
a) Where do people generally go for groceries? Tried to find a welcome but couldn't figure it out.
b) What is general commute time from CWB to IFC2
c) Where is the nearest hospital?
d) How bad is the commute during rainy/typhoon season
e) How is the general community and support?
f) Can a family of three with two dogs and a full time helper manage the initial few months without much trouble?
Please do answer whenever a resident can get some time.
Thanks a ton

Hi Cara,
Thanks a lot for your reply. Few things for clarification, we would be commuting via a car. Hubby would leave by 7 ish for work. I would be staying at home, having a very tough pregnancy. We are still in two minds between saikung and cwb, will have to see if we can get a decent garden village house in our budget. I meant by commute during typhoon season, db still had access via mtr and bus, so what exactly do we look for public transport while house hunting?
I am having a very tough pregnancy, was bed ridden for first five months and now the potential news of move came in. Hence a bit worried if we would be able to manage. Singapore was more of a breeze since entire city is very city- ish unlike the greenery option we have in Hk.
What is the difference between Sai Kung town and Sai Kung as such? On property websites they mention two places differently. I had visited Sai Kung just four or five times before and that was long time back. So not really familiar with the place. Any recommendation for areas/ roads to consider? All help is really appreciated.
Thanks a ton for your time.

There are welcomes in downtown of Sai Kung, another one in mid way at Marina Cove.
If your hubby is driving, there will only be a slight traffic at the aroundabout nearby the Marina Cove.
In terms of typhoons or rainy days, you get very loosen mini buses during typhoons on both directions (Hang Hau and Choi Hung), and always longer queues at the bus stops.

Thanks for the reply. Within a budget of 45k, can we get a house with small garden in sai kung town? We have two big dogs (one is our HK Special from Sai Kung itself), hence we do need some open and green space.

That is far from cwb to IFC.
I have the impression that people lives there are professors for nearby univ.

Although it's not CWB at all...have a look at least once in Tung Chung at the houses in Carribean Coast (they called La Mer). Here you have space and hubby could take the MTR directly into Central. It's great for kids and everything you need is just in front of your door. Agree with Cara that Saikung is the much better choice over CWB, as you can walk into town and meet without having to take the car or call a cab. We have lived in CWB and are now more than happy in Tung Chung.
