One day is enough to visit the temples...
I have stayed here and HIGHLY recommend this place http://www.accorhotels.com/gb/hotel-5451-the-phoenix-hotel-yogyakarta-mgallery-collection/index.shtml
You can also stay with a temple view at the Aman if you want to spend some bucks http://www.amanresorts.com/amanjiwo/cultural.aspx
Or you can do as we did... stay at the Phoenix... then have lunch or tea at the Aman...
