British Passport for Baby

ORIGINAL POST

Hello all,

I am due at the end of December and am looking into getting a British Passport for our child. My husband is british.

But I was just wondering if I need to apply for citizenship for her first before I apply for her passport? Their website isn't much help.

Has anyone been through this process here?

Thanks

The website is very clear. You need to fill in the forms, have the photo and application countersigned and apply. No need to pre apply citizenship.

you don't need to apply beforehand....

if your child is going to be born outside of the UK, your husband has to have either been born in the UK or attained the British passport in HK with status on naturalization certificate as otherwise than by descent.

if your child is born in the UK, ofcourse there are no concerns.
