I registered company in HK last year, then time is up to renew it.
The business is outside HK.
So I do not want to pay more for renewal as the company who set it up for me is asking lots.
If I would like to close the company , can I do it myself online?
What the process involve. If cannot do it online , any cheapest way I can do?
Thanks,
Annie

Hi Annie,
First of all you have to obtain a note of no objection from the inland revenue department. With that you apply for a closure of the business with the business registration office. The whole process is quite a long one, however quite cheap. Fees are about HKD 500.00.
As usual in HK, nothing goes without filling out several forms. You can get those on the government websites.....

Hi Harry, Thanks for your advice. Just because I registered this company last year 10 July 2012 and the renewal time is coming up. If I want to do closure for this company , is there anything else that I have to do before deregistration?
I am very confused , not sure what the step I should take.
Thanks,
Annie

Until the company is deregistered, the company is still required to adhere to compliances, including the filing of annual returns and notification of situation of registered office.
I am very confused , not sure what the step I should take.

Harry,
Can I just walk away if I won't do anything at all?
There is not tax and no transaction for this.
Also I do not want to renew it and I am not in Hongkong. Also this company I have done nothing with it.
Is there any consequence if I just ignore it and walk away?
Thanks for your advice.
Annie
