Need some advice and cannot think clearly.
My husband and I have had a tumultuous marriage for quite some time now. Some days are great, others not at all.
Doubts were planted in his head, years ago, and now it has manifested itself just when I am due to get my permanent residency.
I have a full time job. Is there any way I can get my extension of stay without submitting it as a dependent? Could I get it through my job if my employer were to sponsor me? And then submit my PR forms.
I am at the end here and cannot think clearly, his voice just keeps ringing in my ears and in my thoughts and there is no peace.
Please can someone help with some advice.

How long have u been staying in hongkong using a dependent visa?
In my opinion,if ur employer sponsor u?yes it can but it takes time, u need to act now before ur visa expires. But here in hk, only skilled workers have a chance of acquiring a PR after 7 yrs provided they pay tax for 7 yrs. a proof of residence for 7 yrs. Updated Mpf etc.

Your years of stay as dependent plus years of stay with a "working visa" will both count towards "ordinarily living in HK" which can give you permanent residency. That's what I think.
So if your employer sponsors for a working visa, go grab it.

My wife, national of a South East Asian country, was granted Permanent Resident status after she had lived here with me on a Dependent Visa for over 7 years. I am reasonably sure that you would be granted PR status after having lived here 'ordinarily and legally' for a period of more than 7 years.
I am not a HK native and gained my PR status through work. My wife did not take up employment during that period. Hope this helps.

7 years of *continuous* residency in Hong Kong, even with dependent visa allows you to apply for permanent resident status. Please take into account any lenghty periods you might have spent overseas during those seven years. good luck.
