I'm not sure, what boddington meant by his comment, but I thought it was a very good article and an apt. headline. Thanks Ed.

I live in Redhill; luxury apt. building complex (about 300 units) that is about 10% or less occupied. The gossip is that Chinachem has let all of the rentals expire to sell the apt.s to Mainlanders for huge quick profit. THEN the Govt. changed the rules and added a huge tariff for non Hong Kongers. In light of this article; could be a chess game ? Could be in response to some of this ire and heat put on The Govt. by protesters? It is definitely in a protracted 'holding-pattern'. We'll see how it turns out.

The Imperial Cullinan near Olympic Staiton consists of six towers with 650 luxury apartments. I don't know how many of these units have been sold. But in the evening you can the majority of these units are not occupied. This is sad considering that most families in Hong Kong are squeezed in shoebox sized apartment.

Ylau. Yeah. My heart breaks. Like the average HK person would help me out with my mortgage if I got into financial trouble.

Absolutely. Thats how HK works. We all know that and we are all happy to stay here and ride off the coattails. But when one of us tries to take the moral high ground well thats when the hypocrisy kicks in.

Loyd, I was talking about empty apartments, not your mortgage!

you seemed to think that having more empty apartments around would help paying off your mortgage.
