Just moved into a flat and wondering how bill payments work here for electricity, water, etc. We have an electric stove, electric water heater, so don't think gas is applicable. Internet is included in the rent and we don't have a TV, so can't think of other utilities we will be faced with. Our realtor didn't give us much information except vaguely saying something about the bills will arrive in our mail slot, but two months later, nothing. Is it our responsibility to sign on with local electric and water companies, as we do in the west? Thanks for the info!

It may be in your landlord's name if the Realtor said the bills will appear in your mail box.
We have always had to register with each of the Utility companies and receive the bills in the post addressed to us. We've also always had to pay a holding deposit before the services were connected.
Check you contract it may also be included in your rent - OR speak to your Realtor again.

Thanks for the quick reply ceeh. It would be great if it was already included in our rent. Sadly, I don't think that's the case, so we will definitely check with our realtor again. And I did hear that, cara, about bills being charged every 2 months, so maybe we will get a surprise in our mail slot any day now. Thanks!
