jazzy67, how long have you been in Hong Kong? Have you tried the Social Welfare Department here? Their adoption unit is extremely efficient and helpful. They are 'flexible' as well, as long as 'supply' is more than 'demand', As their sole interest is for the child, they try their best to match parents for them and they dont want to miss any good ones. We adopted our daughter through them last year and the whole process was less than a year. We did not fit into their criteria (one very important bit)but we strongly showed our sincerity and they finally 'gave in. Good luck. In my opinion they just want to challenge you and giving you hard times to test you and see if you really want to adopt a baby. Some people will give in and some people will persist. From what I gather, this is their way of testing couples initially. Mind you we were turned down in the beginning as well. I would say Hong Kong is the easiest country to go the adoption and it doesnt cost you a fortune. In our preference, we said we prefer a girl. When we got her, she was 5 months old and was under forster care. But you are right. It is more difficult to get a girl than a boy because most of the local couples here prefer girls too. Good luck.
