Hello,
I'm so happy to find this thread, don't know where to start when we relocate to HK, maybe in a few months time. I plan to start another IVF cycle (failed one in SG) My RE in Sg recommends Dr. Milton. Anyone knows him? Who else are the IVF doctors?
Right now, i just need a kind, caring, understanding doctor who will look after me. Anyone been under Dr. Milton? no idea about him, is he young, old? Good bedside manners? fee?
Thanks so much for your help. I read that he is located in Central, so hoping i find an apartment that is near.

Yes I am visiting to The Women's Clinic and Dr Milton is with them but my DR. is Dr. Doo, I had under gone ine IUI cycle with Dr MiltonHe is around 50 yrs and very good manners Some body told me that Dr. Milton is pioneer of IVF in HK their no. is 2523-3007.

Thanks tillu for your help. My RE highly recommends him as they are friends, it's easy for them to communicate about my case/records. Are you doing IVF too? How much have you spent? I heard that Hk is more expensive than Singapore.

I am not going for IVF right now, this Saturday I am going for HSG. But I discussed with Dr. Milton during my last IUI cycle he told us the IVF cycle costs around HKD60,000.00 to 70,000.00. You can write tham a mail to check the cost (if you need i can give you the email for dr. milton) and there is another Dr., Dr. Ho also recommeded by no. of persons for infertility treatment. Well there is a thred of IUI you can go through it for more doctors refernce for IVF or fertility treatment.

I had IVF success through Dr William So who is based in central and works at all the major hospitals, his tel no is 2526 2282. If you need advice and support from those who have been down the IVF etc route call Coping support group tel 2336 3353 (Debbie), they were an incredible help to me.Good luck.

Istarted a thread a couple of weeks ago when i found out my husband and i need to go thru ivf. We were recommended to use Prof Haines at the HKCU at Prince of Wales Hospital in Shatin by Dr Dawkins of HKSurgical specialists in HK.
We are really happy with Prof Haines. He takes time to explain everything and gives it to you 'real' rather than give you false hope.
We will see him soon to start our first cycle. I also think that the cost using HKCU is a lot cheaper than the private Drs who charge a lot for their time. The most important thing in IVF is the lab - the guys that actually work with your bits and bobs! So if the success rate of the lab is good - thats all that counts

Asking, I have to disagree with you in that the only thing that matters is the lab. I'm not sure who's administering your drugs but the balance is very important. You need to have good quality eggs to be harvested not just a lot of them other wise it doesn't matter how good the lab is.

After reading all your recommendations I too visited the Womens Clinic and Dr Leong. In my opinion this is a very commercialised place and the Dr doesnt even spend 3 minutes with you and charges $1000/- and apart from it $800 for an ultra sound not even done by him, but a nurse. I was really quite disspointed. I didnt even have time for questions.

Dr Patrick SL Chan is also very good. He is in Room 1005 Lane Crawford House. Tel 2522-2500 His price is much cheaper than the Women's Clinic and Dr Chan really spends a long time with each patient.

I see Dr. Philip Ho, and just gone through my first IUI cycle. Am waiting now for two weeks to get the result... So, I don't know how successful the treatment would be, but so far, Dr Ho seems very good, has lots of experiences, and the office atmosphere and the assistants are all very nice and friendly. I think it is very important that you feel safe, and feel free to ask questions, and with that team, I can do so easily.

I think I really like Dr Derek Lo. I've been to several Ob/Gyns before for various other issues as well, but Dr Lo is the most caring and patient Dr I've come across. He has so much time for you, never rushes, if you ask him a question while he is writing he will immidiately put his pen down and listen to you. I think I will stick to Dr Lo througout the process.

I'm not in Hk yet, i will be relocating there by July, so i want to have a doctor of acu/herbs in mind now. I might try Troy first as i haven't tried herbs, though i've been thru acu for 3 months before my IVF, but to no avail. Are you seeing Dr. Choy?

Yep seeing Dr Choy just for your info by the time you get here she will have moved into her own clinic, still in Central though. She told me it will be in the next month or so. I am of course moving across with her as most of her clients i would assume. When she gives me her new details i will email it to you incase you decide to see her when you move here.

Hi Sunshinedaydream, i asked about why Dr Choy is leaving seems she just wants to be her own boss. I asked Zona (a nurse at the clinic) if Dr Choy will be replaced and was told "no". Dr Choy will be hiring her own nurses also.

I agree with AC1234, I also went to Women's clinic and found it to much money oriented.
Dr Doo was always in a hurry and although the tests my boyfriend and I had were all "perfect" when it came to IUI oh, surprise surprise, the sperm count was lower than expected, but Dr said we should still do IUI two consecutive days to increase the chances. I had taken clomid and got only the 1 follicule I always have every month according to tests. We were surprises an the attempt to sell us the 2 IUI, if after 5 day abstinence the sperm count was low, the day after would be even lower. we asked Doo and he suddenly changed his mind, "err...well perhaps you are right..." I guess they just wanted their money.
I have changed doctor, much happier now.

I didn't Use Dr Do and my issues aren't the same as yours but we were also advised to do two IUI's. Also keep in mind that sperm washing does make a big difference to the result I'm sorry you had a bad experience there my Dr was great and i can't speak hightly enough of her. It's such a lot to deal with it's important to have a Dr you trust and like. Good luck.

Yep adrit, infact when I once requested my Dr (Dr Lo) to do two IUI's he showed me some literature which said that two IUI's were no better than 1 perfectly timed IUI. For this you need to be monitored closely which didnt happen to me either at the womens clinic.
But I know that Perthites has had a wonderful experience with Dr Choy and I guess all bows doen to the particular Dr and probably who knows that why Dr Choy moved!!!!!

I used Dr. Doo at the Womens Clinic for a fresh IVF cycle and an FET, the first failed, the later cancelled. My opinion is that he has a very caring manner, but still lacks experience. I never added up all my bills but I was told that it would come to $70K to $90K depending on the amount of meds I would need. I'm looking for a new RE, and am a little reluctant to stay within the clinic although it's the easiest thing to do and I don't really have time to waste.

The ART (assisted reproduction) Centre of the O&G Dept of Queen Mary Hospital is one of the best in HK for problems about fertility. There is a website: http://www.hku.hk/obsgyn/IVF/html_eng/index.htm
The centre do a lot of treatment and reseach on infertility cases, with good result too. I have friends who succeeded in having babies with the centre.
My husaband and I are receiving treatment in the centre now.
The centre has a private clinic apart from the public one. If you go private, you need to pay about HK$50,000 to HK$60,000+ for the first IVF. You can choose the best doctors like professor or asst. professor to attend you. If you use the public service, you may need to wait for about 12-18 months, but the cost is much cheaper.

i went to dr stevenson who has a practice in central. because of him I am currently pregnant with twins - I cannot say enough about him - he is excellent!!!
