Dr Thondup charges around HK1,000 per consulation whilst you are in the hospital and usually visits daily.

He is a very good Pediatrician. Puts your mind at ease...but he can be a very busy man & therefore many say he is too rushed. I am comfortable taking my kid to him though :)

So, thats another 3,000 dollars to add to your bill. I think I'm in the wrong profession,I wish I could earn this kind of cash in 3 days. Gradually wondering if I should go to QM as all these 'little' charges are racking right up. Do you NEED a paediatrician or is this just another standard procedure in HK?

Do you need him or is this just another step in the whole private thing? ( if you dont mind me asking). i.e. Would he look at your newborn anyway afterwards and charge you regardless?
( sorry to ask all these questions, I am just researching this myself also). It seems to be that I think I know how much it could be, then something else pops up that isn't included.

Is the ped. fees part of the insurance maternity package or can we claim it separately? THanks.

ped fees are not part of the maternity insurance, you will have to try to claim it separately. By the way, Dr. Thondup is very good. Also Dr Jane Chang at Lane Crawford house. She is fab. We have been using her for our 2 kids and only go to Dr Thondup when she is not around.

I am only researching pediatricians now.
Any other opinions on Dr. Thondup? A couple of posters have mentioned that they feel rushed when visiting him.
Is it a matter of waiting 60 minutes for a 5-minute appointment?
Are his fees comparable to other pediatricians? Where is Dr. Foster located?
Does it really matter whom we use for the first few days after the delivery?

$1,000 and daily?!??????????? Unreal. What next? And do the pediatrician fees also vary with what kind of room you have at the hospital?
QMH for a delivery of around $500 all tolled is looking better and better...
