Hi all - Can anyone recommend a good prenatal yoga class in HK, preferably around the midlevels? Other prenatal exercise classes are of interest too. Thanks.

Thank you both! I'll check into these.
Mrs. Miggins I hear you on the yoga breathing techniques; I was thinking the same thing about the panting. This is my first baby, so I can't speak to labour, but I've done yoga before and have used the breathing techniques (and some of the asanas) to relieve pain and or just to relax stress away. The deeper breathing seems like it would be well-suited for labour as well.

By the way, is Peninsula Pure Yoga in Causeway Bay as well? (Sorry, pretty new to HK...3 months!)

Mrs Miggins and Mylene - Do you do the unlimited plan at Pure Yoga? If so, could you tell me how it works? Can you use your membership at any of the three locations? And does Claudia travel to all three?
They quoted a price of around $780 for 5 classes; is that 5 per month? Also something like $888 for unlimited. I haven't gotten thorough answers yet from them, but thought you may know.
Thanks.

hmmmmm, you're inspiring me. have to say, i've been staying away from the pool...afraid of the chlorine and what else may be lurking in the water from other swimmers. we have a beautiful pool in our building...if i can get over the phobia.
what kind of weight sessions do you do? i think i need to get a book on weights in pregnancy.
think i'm going to try buying yoga in blocks as you do. i hope claudia is at the midlevels pure yoga too!
thanks very much for helping. it's been one discovery after another here in hk! have to dig around to find things and figure the place out. getting better at it. : )

RiceT, I'm a personal trainer and certified in prenatal/postpartum exercise. If you're interested I can show you some exercises you can do safely at home with some light weights/exercise ball/bands. Drop me an e-mail. stayfithk@yahoo.com. Also, I wouldn't recommend hot yoga. You need to be careful about making sure your body temperature doesn't get too high.

Hi, I got my certification in the US with NASM. I can come to your home or clubhouse gym. I just completed my prenatal course so I would be willing to give my first few prenatal clients a significant discount.

RiceT, feel free to contact me if you're interested in an individual session. I'm also trying to assess if there is any interest in a small group class.

kathy,
what is your background in yoga teaching? how much do you charge per hour?

Sorry, I'm not a yoga teacher, nor do I even practice yoga regularly (wish I had the time!). Somehow I ended up on this yoga thread though. I can advise on cardiovascular, strength training, and flexibility issues.

My yoga instructor is pregnant, and she taught me how I can arrange the poses so that I wouldn't squash my tummy.
For example, you can keep your legs open when you do stretch, or do sun of salutation. It's great to have a pregnant instructor, she knows what's best!!! Also gave me a lot of encouragement as to how I should listen to my body, but not to pay too much attention to the Doctor's pesimisism...(Well, my hCG level is very low, and he tole me I would miscarry, but it seems my embryo is picking up the pace and growing now!!!!)
