Hi, I like to have 1-2 small mugs of coffee per day and was wondering if caffeine really lessens the chance of conception. I know the alternative is decaf but I do really crave for a caffeine boost at certain times during the day, usually in the morning & mid-afternoon. I don't mind tea with milk but doesn't tea have just about the same amount of caffeine? Ofcourse if it's that much of a no no then I will try to cut it out completely.

I'm not sure how it effects conception but on the tea front i read that the amount of caffeine in teas depends on how long you let it brew for.

i can definitely relate to your caffeine cravings but yes as you said, anything for conception coz i'm 34 and am right on edge. if what you said about both partners should cut down then that's bad news coz my partner lives on ice coffee (chinese style, without cream) but that's all he drinks, i'm serious, he has maybe...i dunno, 3-4 per day or whenever he needs a drink. not only that, he's a smoker and despite my efforts in convincing him that if he keeps smoking it'll lessen our chance of conception. unfortunately for me, he's a very stubborn man and considers all these old wives tales. oh well, i suppose i'll give redbush tea a try as you recommended. thanks simplythebest! good luck to you too!!!

>simplythebest, i came off the pill 9 months ago but only just started trying. this morning i told him that if we want a baby then we have to make an effort but he's totally put off by the idea of doing it according to schedule oz i've been charting my ovulating days and he said that it's too awkward this way & would much prefer to take it easy and let nature takes its course. i dunno, he's not very sensitive when i tell him that it's ok for a man but my biolgical clock is ticking fast and i'm a little anxious. i think i ovulated yest but we were totally not in the mood, so there goes another chance, another month...now i'm definitely craving for a coffee! thanks for your advice anyway, i hope to hear good news from you soon!

I just read from the new yesterday saying that it has been confirmed Caffeine did affect the chance of conception. The new said it's the first time they actually can prove it.
Guess it may not be a bad idea not to have it for 1 month or 2 .......
