ORIGINAL POST

I am 7 months pregnant and lately I have seen that my heartbeat rate increases in the mornings to the point that I get breathless.I don't excersise or do any kind of physical labour in the morning. Also I am not on an empty stomach, this is after I have had my breakfast. I got my blood checked for anemia and BP -Its all normal. By 10-11 o clock I am normal. Has anyone gone thru' this?Is it a cause for concern?

RA -- It's a normal feeling during pregnancy...the heart pumps faster and has more demand. Of course, always consult your doctor, as it seems you have, because for some people it could be the sign of something bigger. But for most, a common and normal occurance.

What time do you get up? And are your mornings fast.....i.e. are you getting up fast and then rushing around? Anything stressing you during those hours? Other kids in the house off to school, etc.? What are you eating? And, how long has this been going on for...recently in the 7th month? Do you find you've grown a lot lately too? I know for my 7th month, I saw a decent growth spurt!

As for breathless, obviously too consider that as the baby grows and you get bigger, there is more pressure on your lungs already...due to less space in the body. Experts say that it just 'feels' as though you're not getting enough oxygen at times, but in fact your are (barring some kind of respiratory disease, etc...and any anxiety attacks, i would imagine). So remind yourself of that too so that you can stay calm and relax it away.

BUT, you know not to sleep on your back, right? When you do, you are putting a lot of pressure on a major artery; for many, many preg woman, lying on their back brings on the fast heartbeat and even dizziness, etc. It is best to lay on your left side. It really helps. : )

If your mornings are fast, try a slower one if possible. 7th month is the third trimester and you will likely feel more and more tired and your body will be under different and often more intense demands....with the extra weight and the rapidly growing babe.

Anyway, hope this helps. ; )

Thanks Mrs Miggins and RiceT...glad to know that I am not the only one.My mornings are not fast..infact I take a long time getting ready for office (I have abt 2 hrs) and my helper takes care of everything (breakfast etc). I usually leave for office around 9 and cab it. My breathless followed by dizziness spells happen between 9-9.30 am. Today I decided to go late and surprisingly while I was sitting at home I had my dizziness & stars spell aroung the same time. Well I have stopped worrying about it now and blame it all to pregnancy.

BTW Mrs Miggins till what week are you planning to work ?

Thee is acondition called PAT (Paroxysmal Atrial Tachycardia) the electrical system of the heart becomes excited and overworks. It is scary but is not a threat. To diagnose it you wear a device called a HOLTER monitor for 24hours which checks for this condition. You Ob may wantyou to see a Cardiologist for this.
