Does anyone know what the formalities are about sperm donation overseas. My friend & her husband have tried IVF but all the 20 fertilised eggs are genetically abnormal. My friend has been told by Queen Mary that the chances of her becoming pregnant by her husband are Nil and so far the test have concluded that it's something to do on her hubbies side. Both of them desperately want children, but doctors at QMH said that sperm donation in UK & US would cost at least $40 000 upwards- just want to know whether this is true and whether theres any info I can give them both. Thxs!

Well I'm really not sure about sperm donation in HK- bcos my friends were not given that option at all! They were advised to go the US or UK for sperm donation, but were told that it costs a fortune!

Anyone know anything about egg donation in Hong Kong or Thailand?
Please support our advertisers:
My (fertility) doctor said that egg donation is illegal in Hong Kong, that is, there is no opportunity to buy eggs in HK. Eggs can be voluntarily donated, by say a sister or friend, but not purchased.
Eggs can be purchased in the US. Don't know about Thailand.

Hi Princess4U,
I needs someone to donate the eggs, as I am having PCOS with irregular periods, So I am on the way to IVF as clomid x 4 seems doesn't work with max try !!!
So, are you chinese ? from Shanghai ?
Any blood test within last 3mths ? HIV ?
just concerns how old are you now ? I needs someone donate the eggs in Singapore Thomson Medical Centre: DR Cheng Li Chang is the best doctor I am sticking to.
Just send yourself to hospital for the safe procedures, no hospital stay is required only 3 hrs rest in bed before departure to HK. If best someone pick up in hospital. Painless with Aethesthic.
regards

I am wondering about the cost and legalities of using donated sperm in HK...My wife and I have been married for 4 years and had no luck with her getting pregnant. Last month when I was home in Australia I spent a few thousand dollars on tests -- and found out I have disorder in one of my chromosomes that means we can't have kids from my sperm.
We are based near Shanghai, where one of the local hospitals said they can do the procedures for us for a comparatively low cost; with the catch that its illegal for foreigners to donate sperm in China, and also illegal to use sperm donated by foreigners...my wife is adamant that she only wants a caucasian's sperm, as she doesnt want any of teh family or anyone else knowing its not my child.
We would prefer doing the procedures in China or nearby, as Australia is out of the question due to: cost, not having any doctors able to speak Chinese, as well as the fact that we'd need to spend a lot of time and money on trying to get visas etc sorted out.
I guess I'm just asking about costs and whether or not sperm from foreign donors is available?

It is not expensive. Check out these two sperm banks from the US. The only thing you need to do is make sure the sperm is sent to a registered lab in HK form the banks. There is a registered lab in Melbourne plaza queen's road. All in all with shipping about US$1500 depending on how many straws you order. You can pick out all characteristics of the donor as well.
Contact Dr Philip Ho in HK, he recommended these sperm banks to me.
