Hi i am currently looking into choosing Hypnobirthing for getting thru my labour and birth. I was wondering if anyone has use this technic and if so how did you find it?

I used hypnobirthing for my delivery and I have also coached a number of clients in the method.
If you would like to talk to me about it please email me at midwifeinhk@hotmail.com

Hi Mummy - yes I have heard of them but have not heard the tapes (I do not use tapes). Hypnobirthing is the phrase of today as active birthing was the phrase of the 90's.
Hypnobirthing is very enriching for the partnership and the beautiful birthing process.
From a personal point of view, the exhilleration our birth gave us is difficult for my husband and I to put into words.
It is a gentle begining to any baby's extra uterine world!
Do you remember how the world mocked Frederick Leboyer in the 80's for his "fandangled" silent births? Funny how everything old is new again!
It is a lovely birthing option to take if you wish to take that option.

Thanks for all your replys. I have read up on it and know what it's all about i was hoping for some more replies from women who have actually experienced it.

Yes she has and i do appericate her input and reply but thats one persons experience and maybe she isn't as objective as she is a midwife who coaches in this technic.

Midwife (or anyone else who knows), do those delivering need to have many "meetings" to practice with the techniques, for lack of a better word, before the birth?

The Mongan Method of HypnoBirthing has 5 2 1/2 hours of training. You receive a book and cds to listen to. One lady from Malaysia in my practitioner class started reading and listening to the cd at 35 weeks. She went into the labor ward at 8cm, feeling no discomfort, only a tightening sensation.

Hi Rice T
I do not coach one method. The Morgan method had its roots with the American Obstetrician Dr. Dick-Reid and most people marketing the method today do use his work as the basis of hypnobirthing - which is very good. I also like to use a combination of LeBoyer and Bradley as well as yoga visualization and deep soft tissue relaxation. I do not put an exact number of coaching sessions on teaching the method - generally 4 sessions of 1.5 - 2 hours is sufficient. It really depends on what number baby you are having. I like to start my couples from about 32 weeks.
As I said before - it is not for everyone, but I do believe that with all the right external factors it encourages speedy and pain free deliveries. The only complaint I had at the end of my labour and delivery (which was a pain free home birth) was that it was over too quickly, I would have liked to have savoured the moment for longer!
