Low amniotic fluid levels...?

ORIGINAL POST

A friend of ours was told by her ob that she had low amniotic fluid levels (4.5 or so?) at week 41 and the ob recommended a c-section, though everything else throughout the pregnancy has been fine. Has anyone experience with this type of scenario--i.e. low amniotic fluids and how much of a difference waiting until week 42 would make as opposed to trying to induce/csection in a day or two?

Generally low fluid levels are worrying and at 41 weeks delivery is a good practise.A cautious induction is a good idea. In Asia a Cesarean delivery is often preferred..

Thanks Dr. Why is a C preferred in Asia?

Mummy...u know it's funny because I thought of you first when I came to write this post!

Yes, because the cervix is still closed and posterior and thus they would have to use the gel or other suppository which could cause tetanic contractions...? Does this make sense?

Note: I think this doc is slightly pro-intervention in the first place and didn't want to wait much longer even before the low levels were sited. Do you remember what levels you were at at 40wks? Thanks.
