I have read in this forum that maternity coverage with Kwiksure and Allianz are good. However, I'm still a bit confused about maternity coverage in general. Right now I have medical insurance w/ work, my questions are:
1) can I take up just maternity coverage with Kwiksure / Allianz? or do I have to join their medical insurance in order to have maternity coverage?
2) Does maternity coverage cover "maternity package" w/ my doc. + also delivery/hospital bills?
3) my company currently uses Bupa and I have read that they also do maternity coverage, if I "upgrade" my insurance to also covers maternity, how much more should I expect to pay?
4) should I take up a maternity coverage before I get pregnant? I read somewhere that you can take up maternity coverage after you are pregnant.
5) How much is the cost in general for a maternity coverage?
I know the above all very general questions and each company has different costs/policies, and depending on what kind of policies I take up...etc, but I just want to have some ideas. Very thankful if you can share your experiences and knowledge with me! Thanks and happy Friday! :-)

thanks Andrew,
still a bit unclear about question 2 - would the maternity insurance covers the "maternity package" costs? Or is the maternity insurance covers up to the policy amount (no matter if it's checkups, delivery..etc)?

Mummy, dyu mind me asking what your premium was? BTW, I'd think the company would've at least covered what they wouldve paid for the standard policy anyway and you the rest?

Allianz is about 2,000 - 2,900 USD per year depending upon how old you are, and what packages you include (dental, in, out, etc...). It has covered EVERYTHING so far for me and I am very happy with them. BUT it won't cover maternity delivery costs until you are with them 10 months.
There are very few policies that cover 100%, IHI is one (they also cover 2 children up to the age of 10), Allianz is another.
I wanted a policy that covered 100% of the costs as a complication can be very expensive in HK. IHI accepts pre-existing conditions, Allianz does not.
It looks like you have really read the forums and done your research - good luck!
