Can anyone recommend a stretch mark cream that really works? I've read that Cocoa Butter is the best cream to use. Where are these sold?

My closest friend is a dermatologist - I asked her this exact same question. She told me that they are all pretty much created equal - you will get stretch marks if you are genetically predisposed to them - and no cream in the world can do anything about it.

But she did also note, that many pregnant women complain of itchy belly skin - and for that reason applying cream is good. So - choose a cream that feels nice and smells good to give you an uplift! (Olive oil is also rumored to be the best "anti-stretch mark" cream. Rub all over you belly after a bath.)

Agree with HKChoiChoi.

I use 100% Shea Butter Cream (L'Occitane) - it is really think and a bit sticky, but it is a super moisturiser.

I also use salt scrub in the shower that both exfoliates and moisturises and smells great.

Although I know it is genetics and not about creams, I like to moisturise and at least think I am doing all I can :)

Don't spend a fortune on special 'stretch mark creams' as they are not guaranteed and anything works just as well.

FANDA in worldwide house has some good basic selections of moisturisers.

I am using a mixture of Clarins Body Treatment Oil- esp. for pregnancy, and also, a cream by Mustela- 9 months stretch mark cream. I am cureently 8 months and have begun to develop stretch marks even after this regimental twice daily routine. However, i am comforting myself on the fact that:

I do not have itchy tummy

They may have been worse without!

My mother, grandmother etc all had stretch marks, so really I should have known. I am trying to see them in a positive light, and to quote the actress Kate Winslet, see them as war wounds to be proud of.

My sister in law, after three kids, had nary a stretch mark (she gained 30+ lbs each pregnancy) - while I, after one, and religiously applying the same cream she did (gained less than 20 lbs), had my war wounds (Kate Winslet)

So - try your best, but don't be shocked if it doesn't work out - just make yourself feel as comfortable and special as possible - if an expensive cream does that - go for it - if you want to go the "natural" route - try olive oil.

i also used pure cocoa butter, it's true it messes your clothes a bit, but i applied it 2 times a day. Also drink lots of water, cos well hydrated skin stretches better than non hydrated skin...I did this and have no stretch marks, although i did have a small baby!

i have a 6 years old daughter and i am 20 weeks on the way right now. i dont have any stretch marks at all... my secret is a little bit hard but it work for me! i don't believe any anti-stretch marks cream helps. My Secret: GLOVES. sounds unreal right? But honestly i recommend it to some of my friends and it totally work... all you have to do is wear a gloves all night, i know it sounds uncomfortable but you'll get use to it in a weeks time. My husband is very supportive even though he doesn't want me to hug him with my gloves on.. :-)

Do some Experiment:

1.)Get a Ballon and rub it with your hands and take out the air after,You will find like a stretch marks on your Ballon...

2.)Make a new Ballon and put air in it and don't rub it and take out the air and compare it to the first ballon. it will be sag but you won't find any marks at all.

I don't expect anybody to believe me but i just want to share a secret. No harm on trying... Good Luck!

I used Vitamin E oil ( from the pharmacy). It worked very well for me. It smooths out nicely on your skin & is not too oily when applied. The best thing is I started applying it as soon as I started showing & I dont have a single stretch mark...Maybe it was the oil or maybe I was just plain lucky. I would use it if I ever got preggers again:)
