Today I played some lullabye music for the bubba and he immediately started some serious activity!! It was delightful. I need to now get my guitar out and start singing to him! I also printed off some long forgotten lullabye lyris so DH can sing along!

Please can anyone else tell me what how they talked/interracted with the bubba at 18 weeks on?

Hi TC, yeah, I too thought it was a bit early, but all the baby books I've been reading say they start hearing from about 17 weeks or so, so I actually started trying out sounds a week ago and have been definitely getting reactions. But music from a distance was a first yesterday, and it was so cool! Then I went to a friends place and she played some new age buddhist chants with a really nice beat, and the bubba started moving immediately again!!! I normally feel the movements when I'm sitting down or reclining slightly, but this time I was standing and Whoaaaaa, there they were, the moment the beat started! Thrilling!! :D

Hiya Ruth, my hubby started talking to bubba about 3 weeks ago, and when I told him your story his enthusiasm was renewed!!!! I'm 23wks 3 days now and we both can actually see him move under my skin, it's fantastic. During the day I can feel a little limb now and again pushing against my diaphram and when I massage gently it moves back in :D

Sometimes I wish he was here in my arms, but then I'm really cherishing this journey now, so that can wait!!!!!

Hi firsttimemom, I am very close to you as I am currently 22 weeks today, I am really enjoying feeling the baby move, my baby is kicking down near my left hip bone and just like you I am eager to have (him) in my arms.I hope you dont mind but I just wanted to ask how much weight you have put on so far? I have put on 10kg. not sure if this is normal weight gain or not.If you don't want to answer its ok, I know it's quite a personal question. thanks.

Hiya white rabbit, no I dont mind... actually the first trimester I lost 3 kgs, and since have made that up plus 3 kgs to date. My net gain after pregnancy is about 3 kgs I guess, and its all in my stomach and boobs (not that much in the boobs...) thank God. Though my appetite returned after the first trimester, I still can eat only small amounts several times a day because my stomach gets very very bloated very quickly. I cannot digest any refined foods and end up being in severe gastric distress if I eat fried stuff, burgers, sugars, biscuits etc, so I'm get my carbs mostly from fruit, whole wheat and sometimes boiled potatoes. I can only be grateful to my body for keeping me in line... heh!!! I sometimes worry that perhaps I havent gained enough, but the bubba seems to be doing fine, so its just business as usual for me.

Wow now I am wondering if i have put on too much!!! oh well i guess I will just have to run a few more miles after bub is born, I did not get any kind of morning sickness and I put on my first 4 kg in the first 6 weeks,I ate absolutely everything you could put in front of me.but I must say I am not watching what i eat at all, If i feel like eating it then I do.

I guess everyone is different.

but thanks for answering anyway.

You were lucky!!! I got nausea in the evenings (but not as much as a lot of us here), but what did it was food aversions and a huge loss of appetite. And yes, everyone is different. I wish I could trade my acidity!!! I have a hearty appetite now, but have to be really really mindful of what I eat because so many things kick start the burn, including white rice!! I wish I could eat everything in front of ME, it would make life so much easier. I get such bad acid reflux it burns my throat and my voice goes hoarse. So now I eat every 2-3 hours, and snack a lot inbetween on fruits/nuts/raisins/dried appricots etc. One cracker and there goes the accidity!!!!!

They say you put on the most weight between 5-7 months because that's the bubbs growth spurt (and I can see my weight slowly inching upwards now) and then it stabilises after that. Where is your weight going? And thin moms are expected to put on more weight than heavier moms. I started out being in my normal weight range (but slightly heavier than what I'd like to be), so I guess I can expect to gain at least another 5-8kgs over the next 4 months, as long as I keep eating carefully!

I wouldn't worry unless your doctor says to watch it!
