I agree with Dr Ghosh, had a few troubles in this pregnancy and always found him very reassuring if not maybe sometimes a little blunt!

I agree with docboat and Mrs Mopp. Dr Choy knows her stuff and will answer all your questions so you can make your decision and really put your mind at ease. A very very good doctor.

hi
i just wanted to say i am very sorry that you are facing a potential loss. it is heartrending and painful.
there are many websites that discuss hcg numbers and where they should be at certain week numbers. if you do a google search for hcg 5 weeks i am sure you will come up with many options.
all best

Chatblanc- I am sorry to hear of your possible loss. I do hope your hcg numbers will pick up as I have read that a lady (in some miscarriage forums in the US) like you managed to keep her baby as her hcg numbers came back to normal in the end.
Still you should probably prepare for the worse. I know it would be hard to face it. But please think on the bright side that at least you have not grown too attached to IT. It is not yet a fetus at 5 weeks. And it's good that your body is rejecting an unhealthy pregnancy for you. Imagine the problem comes later, you will be even more devastated.
If the worst happens, give it a couple of months rest and you can try again. I spoke of my fear of miscarrage to my gynae when I was 5 week preggy, he said just think that "at least you are able to get pregnant and that means you will be able to do it again". I find that reassuring. Hope this helps.
Good luck!!

Hi Sunnysideup & abitnaive, thanks. I suffered a miscarriage 2 days ago. Yes, like you said, my body is just rejecting something that wasn't right from the start...Just wanna take good care of my health now so that i can try again.
My doctor also realised that I may be suffering from PCOS. We will deal with that when I get better. It's not easy, but I'm trying my best to stay positive!
Cheers.

Dearest, I am so sorry to hear that. I have PCOS too and was not ovulating at all because of it. I got pregnant when I first ovulated with clomid (several cycles into Clomid but was not ovulating at lower dosage).
Because I got pregnant "by drug", I was advised to take progesterone drug Utrogestan (taken virginally) to boost my progesterone level in case I am not producing enough. Having progesterone drug during the first trimester (can stop when the placenta takes over the production of progesteron at around 12-14 weeks) is a standard for people conceived on IUI and IVF treatments.
So perhaps, since you have PCOS, you may need to take this drug once you are pregnant. Of course you must consult your doctor on this. There are many reasons people miscarry, most likely to be chomosome defects which you have no control over. So do not blame yourself as it is not uncommon. Personally I am worried whether this is a keeper too until my first trimester is over (then the rate of miscarriage drops significantly).
Just take it easy and concentrate on loving yourself now. Pamper yourself a bit - go get a facial, have a nice afternoon tea etc. You will definitely get pregnant again!!
Take care!!
Sunny :)

Chatblanc,
So sorry.
Btw, if ever you need an expert in PCOS, one is Dr Ernest H.Y. NG at Queen Mary's. He was really thorough and did all sorts of tests before explaining that in fact my wife did not have PCOS (as she had previously been told) but simply PCO - which is less of a concern. Apparently this is a common misdiagnosis in HK, so lots of women are unnecessarily taking strong medicines..
