Hi everybody. I'm just wondering where can I go for a prenatal check up in Guangzhou? I went to NanFang Hospital for an ultrasound but the doctor didn't ask me to come again for check up. My baby is 10 weeks old now ( according to the u/s pic ..I can't remember my last period ). I'm a little worried for not having any check up through out the pregnancy since this is my first baby. In Malaysia ( where I am from ) usually they do a monthly check up to check your blood pressure, urine, blood, weight etc..please help me..

LeenMac, I was seeing Dr. Peggy Lu at the CanAm hospital located on th 5/F of the Garden Hotel on Huanshi Dong Lu. Before my miscarriage, I saw her and did an early ultrasound there and discussed the pregnancy and timeline for prenatal care. They have the necessary equipment there and Dr. Lu is a good doctor and very nice lady. Good luck!

Thanks Dani. Can you let me know how much does it cost for each prenatal check up? I think that last time I ask them they said for the first visit it's 100USD. Don't know about prenatal check up visit. 100USD per check up is wayyyy to much for me..

Can't remember offhand, as I'm a member at that clinic and get discounted rates. Their rates are higher than that of local hospitals as it's 'western.' I live here at Clifford Estates in Panyu and they have a reputable hospital here as well. Not sure of their rates and what their prenatal care is like, but you can call their customer service rep, her name is Angel and she speaks English. Her number is 13725159808.

Without insurance , medical expenses can be very high in China if you go to western clinic.
Can am , charges 90 usd for consultation without medication or anything else.
other option can be at local hospital but in the vip section for foreigner. Vip birthing centre is one of the choices, as well as concord , or sun yat set vip section.
I do my prenatal check up with Dr.Peggy lu from canam, and she is very good doctor and very nice lady. So I feel really confident with her.
I also did one check up in VIP birthing center, and they didn't see my weight, didn;t check my blood preasure, or urine. They just took my blood and confirm the pregnancy.But they never ask me when to come back to do another check up as well/. That was just the first check up anyway, but i think to see my weight and blood preasure is the basic standard procedure.I think if you go to local hospital you must ask the doctor more and to be initiative.

Dani : Thanks. maybe i'll give them a call. But I'm not really sure where is the place. I lived in north of Guangzhou at Tai he town, quite far.
Simplythebest: I don't speak chinese. When i went for a check up at nanFang hospital, I have to bring a friend to translate and it's quite uncomfortable. And I don't have insurance..:(
Sa-sha : I know that Can am is quite expensive. It's quite frustrating to see that the public hospitals didn't do a rutine prenatal check up. maybe I should ask the dr at nanfang to take my weight, BP, blood and urine.Hopefully they do all those things.
