Hi. I have been having my antenatal care through the public system at Tsan Yak but plan to fly home for the actual birth in July. Singapore Airlines have said I can fly until 35 weeks but only with a letter from my doctor saying I am ok to fly, pregnancy normal etc. When I asked at the hospital about the letter, they said it is hospital poicy to only provide a letter stating number of weeks gestation. Anyone else had a similar experience? I am thinking I will switch to a private obstetrician in a few months and maybe I will have more luck getting a letter from him? I wonder if doctors in general are reluctant to give this type of permission letter out? If anyone has a recommendation on an obstetrician I'd be thankful. Was thinking about going to Dr Eric Lee in Princes Building.

I see Dr Ho and he wrote me a letter saying "She's xxx weeks pregnant and healthy and fit to fly". I am sure you can get a letter from some doctor. Why don't you call up and ask?

You can get this from your GP as well. No need to see an ob/gyn. As long as it states your estimated date of delivery to ensure that you meet the airlines cut off requirement that is all you need.
Done it twice, they just look at it at check in.
That has been my experience with Cathay to Australia.
My second time I had it done with the GP because I had forgotten to get it from my Ob/gyn and so picked it up on the way to the airport on a Saturday afternoon!

Thanks. I was getting a bit worried that it wasn't going to be as easy as I thought to get the Doctors letter - especially as I will be 34 and a half weeks!

Had the same reply from Tsan Yuk hospital last month, but I asked my GP and she did it, although she did not follow up my pregnancy.
