Immediate pregnancy after D&C with suction

ORIGINAL POST

I had a D&C with suction about two and a half weeks ago. I know I am not supposed to try to get pregnant again for a few months, but what happens if the contraception fails? What are the chances that the pregnancy would stick? Also, should I still be having pain in my sides, back, and hips? The pain went away for about a week, but now it is back.

Thanks,

Melissa

First of all I would really try not to get pregnant for about 2-3 months. I have had 2 miscarrages, one in the UK and one in Australia both times I had a D&C. The Doctor's strongly advised me to wait 3 months before trying again because the body and hormones etc are trying to get back to normal which takes time. About the pain your having contact your Doctor, I sure its everything just healing but its good to see them for reasurance. GOOD LUCK

Generally mother nature is smarter than we give her credit for. You are best NOT to get pregnant until you have had 2 periods after a loss or a D&C and in fact VERY few women do get pregnant in that time. Use reversible contraception (condoms) for 2 months.

Hi Veracity, I concur with the above. Had a D&C in Dec. and had my doctors tell me to wait 3 cycles before trying again. Have had 2 periods so far, and am JUST beginning to have my hormones level out. It's not pleasant physically and emotionally, so just take the time out and let your body get back 'in shape.' Good luck with everything!

I had a m/c in mid feb. My doc told me not to waste time and could start trying right away. I didn't need d&c though. Perhaps it was too early, only 7 weeks (my HCG level showed 4-5 weeks).

I am still on my 1st cycle aftter m/c. The cycle is a bit longer than before. My general temp is slightly higher and i ovulate about 8-10 days later than past cycles. We did get "busy" during my fertile window. No matter successful or not... I feel fine and happy that i am trying right away. It really does help me to put the whole m/c thing out of my head....
