Baby kick

When did you feel your baby kick for the first time?


I've heard most feel it after the 20th wk...a few moms a bit earlier if they've had other children and recognize the feeling.


I'm in my 16th week, but still have'nt felt anything. Just curious...not worried.

You're pretty much right on with when to expect it - my first one I was past 20 weeks before I felt him move - don't expect a "kick" the first time it's more like a flutter & you may even mistake it for gas ;-)

I was lucky too. I felt the first flutter distinctly on my lower left abdomen at exactly 17 weeks, and only when I lay at a 45 degree angle or sprawled in a chair. They became stronger and more distinct after about a week, and more or less in the same place. I later saw an ultrasound and there he was lying in the same right to left position with his feet to my lower left.


Now of course, at 29 weeks he's all over the place and I love watching the ripples in my stomach. And when I push his feet he pushes right back!!! Also when he comes too high up I cannot breath and I push him gently downwards, and he obligingly moves down again. Its the best feeling to feel your baby move... I'm cherishing this time!
