I would get a doctor to check it out, it is probably OK but safer to get it checked cleaned aseptically and re-dressed. These days dressings are often sealed and left on til the next appointment but should be looked at if you are concerned. Doing it yourself could introduce an infection if there isn't already there and some antiseptics are not bug free if opened for a while. Any clinic should be a able to assist if you can not get an appointment at the hospital where the op was done.

Dressings on wounds are a pain. They are there to stop your clothes or other items from rubbing on the wound. There is no evidence that they prevent infection. When patients are in the hospital, I prefer that when the dressing is changed the wound is left open to the air for an hour or so. Also there is less skin scarring if the dressing comes off early.
BUT, it should not be smelly, if you can get to see the surgeon or somebody in his/her office then do that.

This needs to be seen before Monday. Disd you have the op ata hospital if so their Emerg can help. Meanwhile do as you said. Take the dressing off and clean the skin. Look carefully at the wound. Is it draining any fluid?, is is VERY red?, do you have a fever? if the answer to ny of these is YES, you MUST be seen TODAY!!!
Geta new clean dresing from a drug store and recover after checking.

Please do not use detol. Boil up some water and salt and let it cool - saline is best to dry and clean a wound. Detol is irritating.
