Does anyone know of any confinement ladies who offer the traditional services & care during confinement?

I think it's not so popular here in Hk, unlike in Sg and Malaysia, though there are few around. When are you due? Can you speak chinese? If you speak chinese, then no problem in getting one.

Call 23422244 - Methodist Social Service Centre. They have trained confinement ladies for hire. 3 months before your due date they will call you to arrange an interview with you and one of the confinement ladies. If you feel good about her, you can confirm her on the spot. Otherwise, they can arrange other ladies until you find the right one. Monthly wage around $7000 depending on the number of hours you want her to work for you each day.

No I haven't. Mine is due late Oct. First time mom. My friend has recommended me one of the ladies but that lady is already booked till year end. I guess you can get in touch with them first and see what they recommend.

Traditional confinement ladies provide care for the mother by preparing nutritious chinese soups & foods to aid a speedy recovery & improve overall health. Old wives tales say that if the confinement period is done well, the mother's health will be much improved & stronger than before. Midwives specifically provide excellent advice on how to take care of the baby, breastfeeding advice etc. I've used midwives & lactaction consultants in my first pregnancy & they all provided excellent advice & help for my baby.
