I know this will seem a daft question but I was wondering when I should start thinking about setting up the babe's nursery?
Am only 20 weeks but am itching to get started. Too soon?

I don't think it's too soon! I would definitely do it before you start feeling too cumbersome to traipse around the shops and move furniture around. If you start early, you can also pace yourself and not get drawn into impulse buys.
If you are planning to go away, that might be a good time to your nursery painted so you don't have to be around paint fumes. When a friend of mine was 20 weeks, her husband whisked her away on a babymoon and got me to paint a mural on their nursery ceiling as a surprise for her... Some guys have all the best tricks up their sleeves!

One thing you may want to consider, especially for a first child is a gender neutral colour or theme. If you are planning on having more than one child, you may want to 'recycle' the furnishings and (assuming that you know the sex of no. 1 already) may regret going top to bottom in pink or blue. Children may end up swapping rooms if the first starts t 'outgrow' teddy bears for Barbie/Thomas the Tank etc. Just a though...or maybe I'm just being cheap and lazy. Enjoy though, it is SO MUCH FUN!!!!

check out these things called Wallies and StickArounds

You can google for more sites.
Saying that, our baby is 5 months, and while we had the furniture and an old ikea rug in the room before he arrived... we still have nothing on the walls!
Don't give me any credit, I learned about Wallies from here:

I always intended to paint a mural on the nursery wall, but since we are thinking of moving early next year, it made sense to wait. Those stickers are a great alternative! Thanks for the tips, I'm having lots of fun just dreaming up ideas...

Hi all,
we got the nursery painted last week - a very pale mint green. It looks really nice as we have lots of light in that room. We also have the cot, second-hand from a friend so now need to think about soft furnishings and all the other bits and pieces need for a small baby.
This weekend it's pram and car seat shopping!
Thanks for adding the Wallies and Stickaround websites - they look great.

Vulvic,
May I ask where you bought your paint?
And did they have a decent selection of paint colors to choose from?
Please support our advertisers:
Ah, we had a contractor come and do it but the paint was bought from Wanchai, can't rembember the name of the road though. Was something like Gordon Rd. Sorry!
