hi hkchoichoi,

I read you recommend olive oil, have you tried that? maybe i'll have that for me to have something to apply. My mom doesn't have any stretch marks so i thought i'll skip the cream. Extra virgin oil? sounds sticky ;-)

Hello,

During my 1st pregnancy, I uses "sweet almond oil" that I mixed with a good body moisturer. I didn't get any strech mark.

Now that I'm expecting number 2, I use the same thing. Except that I haven't found sweet almond oil in HKG, so I had to have it sent over.

Having said that, I think that the most important things not to get strech marks are : 1. the quality of your skin (it's genetics !)

2. if you moisture it very carefully, twice a day, it should help a lot, whatever the cream is...

Good luck

Thank you hkchoichoi, very helpful indeed =) Seems like everyone has a different theory on how to deal with the 'war wounds'. So for olive oil, is there specific brand/ type that one should look for?

I used Shea Butter and Vitamin E Oil, and Sweet Almond Oil...

Duriung the pregnancy, I got large, but had no stretch marks....

I had the baby...

I started to shrink...

One week later I had 'Shrink Marks'!! I always thought you got them when you 'stretched' but I got mine when I 'shrank' - nobody told me to expect this!!

I used, and still use Vitamin E or Jojoba Oil or Shea Butter every day.

Now almost 4 months later, they are fading, and I refer to them as 'Love Marks' the love for my husband and son.

I never had any stretch marks on any part of my body pre-pregnancy.

My mom had 4 kids and has no stretch marks anywhere..NONE! Same goes for my Sis in law..4 kids and no stretchmarks.

Both of them never gained more than 25 lbs per child and were active throughout their pregnancies.

But when I had my first baby I got a few on my breasts & lower abs/lower hips.

I think it's a matter of keeping your weight in check, eating healthy & keeping your tummy moisterized. Even then, there's no guarantee.

Try Mustella, it's a bit greasy but it's good!

I agree with Ruth at Clifford, it's just luck. I believe you can help your skin along though with a good prenatal moisturising cream. I used the Mothercare brand with my first baby 3 years ago, she was nearly 9lb born and not one stretchmark. Im doing the same with this pregnancy. Im 35 weeks with another big baby and I cant see a stretchmark yet. The Mothercare cream only cost HK$35 too! Good Luck.

Body Shop "COCOA BUTTER" - the roll-on stick.

No stretch marks after 2 bubs. My mother has terrible ones and I definitely have her skin (my father is lebanese, she is english - I have similar wrinkles on my face)

Another friend who got stretch marks during puberty on breasts, used this and got none during pregnancy.

Now, if I could just find a miracle cream for my face!
