hi, i'm new in hk,and is looking for a good fertility doctor. I am on my early thirties and is having a very high FSH,thats why its very difficult for me to get preggy. I had my treatment started in Dubai last july and was put on femoston tab 2/10,and go see doc every 2 wks for u/s & every 3rd day of my cycle to be prick and see my fsh.So far my left ovary is started to release egg but not maturing enough and my rt in still on the work. We just move in here last month and was not able to check it yet since i don't know any clinic till now. So far my FSH was controlled last time i check it and doc say to continue with my meds til july to see if i can get pregnant.Told me to find a doc here says there is a lot of good ones here and are very advance. He advised my as well that if i will not get pregnant i have to get an egg donation which is we're thinking about of doin since my sister is willing to donate.
Is there anybody who knows anybody with my similar situation and can advised my me of IVF egg donation?
I am most greatful for any help that u can give.

Dr Philip Ho is a fertility specialist and a really nice doctor. Perfect English. His nurse (Kellie) is very helpful, too, if you want to ask questions about costs etc.... tel 2899 2293.
You can find his address and other info about fertility doctors in HK in the following:

Another Dr. Ho recommendation.

add another dr ho advocate to the lengthy list!

Concur on the Dr Ho support (Well Women's Clinic, Central). Another big private name in town is Dr Alex Doo at the Women's Clinic, also in Central.
BUT, regarding your donor eggs question....unless you have a friend or relative (and not a close relative of your husband either) who is willing to give you an egg, you will find this a difficult procedure in HK. Egg PURCHASE is illegal here. If it's something you really want to pursue, one way to do it would be to arrange to purchase an egg from the US (for example) and have either of the HK fertility specialists handle the prep here (synchronizing cycles, etc), then travel for the fertilization and implantation.
It's a big commitment, and it'll be expensive. Good luck.

Thanks to all on this site that provide such great information. After reading so many inspirational messages and after 18 months of trying to get pregnant, I'm off to see Dr Ho next week and am very hopeful that he'll be able to help us!
Also on the waiting list to see Troy Sing for any additional help I can get - its time for the holistic approach!

I have spoken to nurse kellie of Dr. Ho and indeed she is the very nurse everybody needs when it comes to sensisitive problem. When i posted my first letter asking some advised i did not expect this lots of responsed, and was indeed grateful. I am also off to Dr. Ho next week and see what advised he could give. I know my chances of getting pregnant without the help of new technology is less of 10% and i am hoping for a miracle to happen.Hope that Dr. Ho will help to make it happen.

Hi Gerarni
Hope it goes well with Dr Ho - he sounds very good. it is probably a bit late now but Dr Choy at Care for Women 3112 0480 is also excellent and very easy to talk to. I think she has a very high rate of success reading other posts which is how i chose her and have been very happy. good luck and hop that all goes well.

I also was diagnosed with high fsh when I was only 28. If you have already decided on a doctor that is great, but wanted to add Prof Chris Haines from the Prince of Wales hospital to the list. I am three months pregnant following IVF with Prof Haines and his team. I know cost doesn't come into the equation when you are talking about a child, but the rates of going private at Prince of Wales are half that of a Central based clinic. We have no insurance so this was welcome! I would try one round of IVF before trying egg donation because although your fsh is high it doesn't mean every egg is not good. I also have another, healthy and active child from IVF from my home country. All the best

Its great to hear that information fr u Boobear, as we also don't have insurance in here. Dr. Ho doesn't want me to undergo egg donation as of now since my DNA proof that i may not have the premature ovarian syndrome which i was diagnosed before. He will still investigate me. So we will see if i will respond to his treatment first. For now me and my husband like him since he seems to know much about my case and he gaves us much his time with us to expain things well enough.
Thanks again for the info, i'll keep this in mind.

Gerarni,
Is that "Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome" (PCOS)? .... If ever you need to see an expert in that particular field, I can recommend Dr Ernest Ng. He has published scientific papers about it and holds a private clinic at Queen Mary. I have his email address somewhere, if ever you need it.

No kittie its completely different. Its a disorder that lots of women of different ages but mostly in their younger yrs. Its like a premature menoposal that they don't really know whats the cause. The ovary just stop working. And without any Hormone replacement can shrink our uterus and makes our bone fragile too thats why we had to take Calciun supplements. It can affect women in there teen and sometime its too late to be diagnosed. But lots of fertility doctor and even endocrnologist has told me that there is still some chances of some women to get pregnant which is unexplainable they say. But very slim and not get your hopes high i might say.Miracles do happens and we can never really tell how it works. So i hope Dr.Philip Ho will be able to help me since he seems to know my case and i hope i have given you a bit of information too.

Hi dearveena78, it costs around 75K including the drugs. Obviously the cost really depends on the dosage of drug needed.
