1. For fun - The girlfriend's guide to Pregnancy - Vicki Iovine
Maternal Fitness by Julie Tupler (helps you keep in shape and get your stomach toned for natural birth)
What to Expect When You're Expecting (so common - you can probably borrow it from someone.)
2. Baby Signs by Linda Acredolo and Susan Goodwyn
Baby Minds by Linda Acredolo and Susan Goodwyn (both fun ways to interact with your baby - useful from about 3 months up)
The Contented Little Baby Book (you'll hear conflicting stories on this one, but it was great for me)
Super Baby Food by Ruth Yaron - useful for when you're starting solids.
If you're breastfeeding - The Breastfeeding Guide by Kathleen Huggins - very very good and answers everything you are curious about.
If you are curious about your child's brain development - What's Going On In There by Lise Eliot
Mayo Clinic's Complete Book of Pregnancy and the First Year

1. Also for fun; Kaz Cooke's 'Rough Guide to Pregnancy'.
A slightly more serious but also useful read; 'What to Expect When You're Expecting', as above - almost everybody has a copy, so you should have no problem borrowing one.
2. 'What to Expect in the First Year'
'Babies' by Dr. Christopher Green (very sane, grounded and often humourous advice)
'When your child is Ill' (so that I do not live at the Paediatrician's Office)
Gina Ford's 'Contented Little Baby Book' is worth reading. I personally HATE it, but am still glad that I read it.
Annabel Karmel's baby/child cook book
I thought that anything by Miriam Stoppard was a waste of time and money.
Happy shopping nad reading!

To the above, I would add 'B is for Baby' published by the Matilda Hospital. It's a great resource for HK moms, with HK-specific information such as which MTR stations have lifts and easy pushchair access.

Baby Love by Robyn Barker.

Belly Laughs by Jenny Mcarthy was hillarious - read it in hospital when I was 13 days overdue and going stir crazy - it was just what I needed!
Contented little baby - some useful stuff on bad sleep associations, routines etc but adapt it to your own needs.
Baby Whisperer - similarly, some useful stuff but adapt it to your parenting style - and she writes in a rather long winded way.
DK Conception, pregnancy and birth was really useful for me too.
Get any other information from babycentre website - they have US, UK, Australian and German sites and are starting more up I think
