Hi, does anyone know if it's manadatory to have a month off before moving from IUI treatment to IVF. Does it depend on the doctor?

hi rose

doctors allow patients to do iui's in succession, so it would stand to reason that they would allow you to move right into an ivf.

however, most doctors (both that i have cycled with) want you to be on the BCP the month before you cycle. possibly some will also want to do a mock transfer, to ensure that when the time comes to do the embryo transfer, that there are no "access issues" that cause delays. i think you are right, it depends on the doctor, but most want you on bcp. possibly the iui drug protocol is a plausible alternative to the bcp though?

for those two reasons, particularly the first, i would say if you were to get a negative from an iui on 30 june and wanted to start ivf drug protocol on 1 july, most drs would put you on the bcp instead, and target 1 august.

hope that answers your question and i am really sorry you are at the point where ivf is necessary. that's tough.
