I've been diagnosed with a tilted/retroverted uterus. I'm about 14 weeks along so far with no complications. The only obstacle so far is with the ultrasound, had to have the vaginal 'wand' as opposed to the belly scanner for our nuchal translucency test. Any women out there that had the same thing during their pregnancy? Any complications? How did you feel later as you got bigger? Labor problems? Thanks. My mom had it too, so I guess it's genetic, lucky me!

A retroverted uterus is congenital or caused by non-genetic reasons (eg childbirth, pelvic injury, etc.). So sorry you can't "blame" mom for this. :-)
And it's common. About 20% of women have a tipped uterus, including myself. But in almost all cases the uterus corrects its position at 10 to 12 weeks into pregnancy. Problems can occur when the uterus does not right itself, it's called persistent retroflexion.
If it does not correct itself, you need to discuss this with your doctor. When is your next check up?

Hi -
also retroverted uterus here. In my first pregnancy it was identified at Queen Mary Hospital and I had a natural delivery with no complications.
my second pregnancy, no one commented on it so I'm not sure what it meant. my dad is an OB and said it's really not a big deal so not to worry.

Hi, thanks for your responses. From what I've read so far, it doesn't seem to cause much difference, except that we're 'different!' :)
My next appt. is in a few weeks, so I'll see what the doctor says.
