This seems like a silly question, but here goes. We're going away this weekend to Hailing Island. Does anyone know if it is safe to go swimming in the ocean there? It's the South China Sea. I probably will just wade in it anyway, to cool off. Not sure if this is ok or not, have found contradictory info on the web about swimming in the ocean whilst pregnant. Thanks!

i gave birth in mar 06. in dec 05, i stayed a couple of nights at Bintan, Indonesia. I took a few dips in the sea and nothing happened to me. But I watched out for vicious little jellyfishes and made sure I stayed shaded.

Can't imagine why it would be a problem. Probably much safer than going in a HK swimming pool, in terms of bacterial nasties. But watch out for sharks and jellyfish...
