Doctor(s) for high-risk pregnancies/support for bereaved moms

Could you please recommend doctors specialising in high-risk pregnancies (perinatologists) in HK? I miscarried last year at 14wks and this year I delivered a stillborn baby who was full term. Hubby and I want to try again but given my background I might need a perinatologist to handle my case next time. For my 2 previous pregnancies I saw private docs in the first 4 to 5 months, after which I shifted to public (Tsan Yuk/Queen Mary's) hosp. I know Tsan Yuk/Queen Mary docs are efficient but my tragic experience i.e., finding my baby doesn't have heartbeat, happened in the same room/environment and i dread going back to these places the next time I become pregnant. (Given the district where I live, I would likely be assigned to Tsan Yuk/QM again).

Also, is there a support group here for moms who have experienced similar situations? i.e., stillbirth, miscarriage?

Thank you.

Dr Lam and Dr Wan at the HK PreNatal Diagnosis Centre are very good at pre-natal care. Not only do they have the high-tec machines, they know how to read the information very well and Dr Lam seems to know a lot about high risk pregnancies and is very attentive to the development of the fetus.

For trying to conceive, many ppl on this forum like Dr Doo and Dr Dawkins.

Not sure about the support group, but you are sure to find other women on this forum with similar experiences. You can also ask at Matilda, Adventist and Annerley if they know or have such a group.

Good luck.

Dear Alicehk:

So sorry to hear of your loss. I personally know what you are going thru. I recently lost my boy at 37 weeks as well. I am in the process of starting up a support group for bereaved moms. Please let me know if you would like to talk. You can reach me at sudar@netvigator.com. Wishing you the very best,

Dear Surdarshana, thanks for your reply. I sure would love to talk to you. I've sent you a separate email and I look forward to your reply.

To CRJ and simplythebest, I tried to post a thank-you note earlier but I don't know why it didn't appear online. Thanks a lot for your recommendations.

Alicehk,

Am very very sorry to hear about your loss. I also know from experience how devastating the loss of a child can be. We lost our first son at 40wks a few years ago. But with a lot of support we were able to go on and have our second son. I too was private throughout, but with my second son, also saw Professor T.K Lau at Prince of Wales (SHATIN)and Macor Wan for scans with our second son. Prof Lau is a leading perinatologist in HK (one of very, very few). We found Hulda at Annerley very supportive and caring during our grieving and throughout our second pregnancy. I've emailed Sudarshana to have my name put on her support group. I have quite a lot of resources that may be able to help. Be safe .. adn know you are not alone.
