I am covered on BUPA gold. But i noticed that in there prospectus that they only give 9000 US$ coverage for elective c-section.Looking at the prices at the matilda / adventis this will nowhere near cover the expenses!!

Does anyone else have experience with this company.??And do other companies cover all the expenses?I have a friend covered by cigna and they didnt have to pay a penny!!!

I have BUPA Gold cover as well and they paid all my maternity costs.

However, I gave birth in Shanghai and had to have an emergency c-section. But then the cost alone for the c-section and hospital stay were US$9000. I think for the delivery and all prenatal check-ups, scans etc etc we spend about US$15.000 and BUPA paid all of it. This was 2 years ago.

If you check the policy I think they say that when there is a medical reason all costs will be paid for.

Allianz is wonderful - they covered all my costs at Matilda except husband's meals and internet access in the room.

Christian Moore (above) or Neil Raymond from Kwiksure, can make you a chart that compares the different maternity coverage by insurance companies. Most are capped at 8-9K except Allianz and IHI as Christian wrote.

The Cigna plan your friend is on is likely to be corporate and not personal.

I am on a personal plan, not corporate.

You need to be sure to choose:

International, not Asia Plan

Premier

Look at this link:

International

Core Plan

And you will see that Maternity is covered in full.

The difference between the International and Asia Plans was discussed on a previous thread

I am on BUPA Company Gold.

Don't think there is a difference in coverage when you are insured privately with Bupa, apart from difference in name of the insurance.
