My husband has the opportunity to manage his companies KL office for 2 years. Slight problem is that I am expecting our first child in May and they would ideally like him in situ before that. We're planning a recci trip in Jan to check out hospitals etc but I wondered if anyone out there had any advice to offer on where to start? What's hospital care like out there? What is antenatal and postnatal care like? Are there support groups? Does anyone else have any experiences to share? Should I put off coming out until after the birth? We're currently in the UK.

i had my baby in malaysia although most of my antenatal check up was in hong kong. i delivered my son at the gleneagles ampang, KL. it's probably the most expensive and best hospital in KL if i may say so. i heard that even mahathir was there for his heart surgery or something like that. anyway, the room is nice and the staff are friendly. most foreigners go to this hospital, i think. hope this help.

Hi Helen - I live in Penang, Malaysia right now and have had experience w/ the Gleneagles hospital there. They were quite professional and i'd encourage you to consider them. I'd definitely tell you to check out the birthing rooms in each hospital you are interested in and find a doctor at the hospital you are most comfortable w/. it is amazing how important this person will become to you during the process.
