Hi Viv48

i may also be looking at having a baby in Jakarta - my pregnancy will be high risk so i will need to find an ob/gyn that i am happy with first before conceiving (so thoughts on your experience would be helpful). i will keep an eye on your thread to see if you get any good feedback but if you could also keep in touch with me i would appreciate that. my email is rachdavo@yahoo.com.au i am currently in Aust but moving to Jakarta in Jan '07.

The 1st class private hospitals usually offer packages on rooms, doctor fees etc.

I replied to other psoting about a good hospital....PONDOK INDAH hospital is considered a premium facility, so I would suggest you look them up.

They may refer you to a OBS/GYN that works out of their. My wife whom gave birth last month in Jakarta has a good Doctor if you're interested. He is rather traditional, but works out of PONDOK INDAH as well as a ASIH Maternity Hospital close to his office.

Good luck

Pete
