Hi everyone, My husband and I are New Zealanders trying to adopt while living in Hong Kong. We appear to match the criteria needed for expat adoption but I've just hit a really big wall with NZ immigration in relation to gaining citizenship for our child. Are there any NZs out there or anyone who knows any NZs who have successfully adopted here? I need a ray of hope as I'm feeling bitterly dissappointed. I saw an earlier post but no responses to it.
From reading this forum I know there are many succussfull adoptions, which is wonderful, and I have gained a wealth of information so thanks a lot. Hope someone can help.

You might check with International Social Services to see if they have any answers for you or any families to refer you to.

Thanks a lot hkmeg for your reply and for the web link. In my search I hadn't come across that so I'm quite excited that there may be hope for us yet! Cheers

We are NZ and have just adopted and our son has been granted NZ citizenship and has an NZ passport. It was a fair amount of paperwork - but no more than our natural son. NZ consulate is extremely helpful. Happy to chat if you send me an email and we can exchange numbers.
