Is anyone else experiencing pain in the butt and down the legs? I've done some checking online and I guess it's nerve pain. Sciata nerve. The pain doesn't just happen when I'm lying down. It happens whenever I move and can be quite painful. I'm about 5 months pregnant and am not looking forward to more pain as I get bigger and bigger.
Any ideas as to how I can ease the pain? Or do I just have to put up with it?

Sounds like Sciatica... ask your dr to write a referal for Physio Therapy, it will help.

I found yoga very helpful - but I've also heard it can aggravate - although I had much worse sciatica pain with my first (when I didn't do much prenatal yoga) vs. my second where I did do a lot.
CRJ is right - see a physiotherapist first

Hi there I have alot of hip pain, happens all the time if im walking, laying down and such. Doctors suggested i get massaged 3 times a week. Not sure if that will help you but you might want to try it.
Best of luck!

Thanks everyone for your replies. I'll look into the physio.
Even before my pregnancy, I had to 'crack' my one leg, because the joint felt out of place, where the leg meets the pelvis. I wonder if that is related?

Sounds like you have sciatica/ sacroilliac nerve pain. I had this during my pregnancy very severly. You need physio. Get a referral from your doc. A couple of sessions will ease the pain significantly and the physio should also show you exercises (pilates type) to ease the stiffness/ loosen the nerves and suggest things like heat application (hot water bottle). I was also recommended swimming. I went to Danielle at PhysioCentral in the Centrium and she sorted me out very quickly. Mine was so bad that I had to be carried as I couldn't take one step.

Yes, it does sound like Sciatica, quite common during pregnancy and can be alieviated with gentle exercises. Best to get it checked out by a physio and then get the go ahead to do some exercise safe for pregnancy. Yoga Central on Wyndham St. have a Pre natal Pilates class on Tues lunchtimes 12.45pm where all exercises are modified for pregnancy.
