Ok so on my last check up i tell doctor im having tons of contractions and they are usually about 5 to 10 mins apart lasting pretty much all day. They arent labor labor contractions but contractions non the less. She tells me no possible way so she lays me down and feels and counts them blah blah and then checks the placement of my uterus saying its tilted forward toward my stomach, pointing out and i should go buy this belly band thingy. so i go buy this belly band thingy that is supposed to push the uterus up and stop the contractions. Anyone heard of anything like this before?

interesting.
tilted? Or retroverted Uterus? I'll ask my father - but I'm sure that a belly band thing is a very Asian thing. I've never heard of such a thing - and if your uterus is retroverted - a band isn't going to help it. (I have a retroverted Uterus - have you been told before - I know that you have had a baby before.)

I have a retroverted uterus too....I think it's the same as tilted (retroverted means it's tilted backwards instead of slightly forward towards the stomach).
I have not had a baby; however when I found out I have a retroverted uterus, I read up on it a bit. My doctor said it didn't mean there would be any big problems, and that if I did ever have a baby, then the uterus should just pop into the "normal" non retroverted place at about 12 weeks in....
Verellene, I'm not sure how this will help you, and I'm not a baby expert, but you could mention it to your doctor and find out what's happening down there.
Good luck!

With my pregnancy, I was diagnosed with a tilted uterus (retroverted) also. It really didn't have any effect on my baby or pregnancy and delivered naturally w/no problems. Never heard of the band thingy either.
Maybe you're just experiencing strong Braxton-Hicks (practice) contractions? I should think it wouldn't matter if your uterus is tilted or not. Interestingly enough, my mother also had the same thing, she had me & my sister just fine. We're just a little different, that's all. :)

Yeah the doctor back home didnt say i had a tilted uterus.... this is my 3rd kid i figured maybe he wasnt worried and didnt say anything.
No i have actually contractions. My first i went into labor at 27 weeks almost had her early only to be put on tons of meds to stop it for a week then pills after til i was induced. 2nd child i had her 3 weeks early. I have contractions over a long period of time then dilate over about 2 months of time. Ive probably dilated from 1-3 now and doctor doesnt know cuz she hasnt checked me yet. It was that way for baby 1 and 2 and now baby 3 i have those contractions again and this doctor said to me " Your uterus is tilted outwards so you have contractions because its pushing out" yeah clueless about that. she said my belly is too big for being 28 weeks because its tilted out.
She told me this band will help stop the contractions but wont make them go away completely. I dont notice a difference at all with contractions they come about every 5 to 10 mins and last about a 30 seconds to a min.

I freaked out initially when docs in HK told me I had a retroverted uterus. My dad said, "why do they make such a big deal? It's NOT." He said when the pregnancy progresses everything generally pops back into place so no problem. I wondering if the belly band is some sort of accupressure thing? you know - compress it so you wont' go into labor early.
asked my dad about retroverted and early labor - he said no correlation and that was the first he had heard of it. There are SOMe things which are associated with retroverted uterus (like sometimes difficulty getting pregnant...although this has never been the case for me) and it's only a problem IF your uterus doesn't right itself - which is called something like incarcerated uterus.
anyways - your ob should be wanting to check you out at this point. If you're seeing a midwife, demand to see the ob. They should stick you on a fetal monitor, see the contractions, make sure baby is okay - and prescribe bedrest and magnesium - whatever necessary to get you to at least 34 weeks. WHAT ARE THEY DOING?

Well she told me the contractions were impossible.... Not the first time ive heard that lol. They arent doing anything. she just told me to go buy that belly band and i will stop having contractions if i am she says. then she gave me an appt for 3 weeks later. She didnt put me on the monitor she just assumed the belly band would work lol. I see the ob every time i go in and i also see the midwife who comes in to ask how i am doing. I am 29 weeks today. I wil see doctor on the 24th of this month so about 2 weeks.
I know if i was back home the OB i had for my 2 lil girls would have done something so it frustrates me so much when i have someone who wont listen to me. This is my 3rd OB doctor... the other ones said it was impossible too... perhaps in china/shanghai it is unlikely to have contractions but for me its how thigns go and by the time i go ill be pretty much dilated. 2nd baby i went for check up and was dilated to 6almost 7 and doctor was like OMG go to the womans delivery center NOW!! i thought he was joking but went anyway... sure enough within an hour i was in full labor, all by myself as i had my mom come pick up my oldest and my husband was out of the country... LOL.
Thing is here in shanghai, china most women only have one child so they dont have the history i do with their labor, for them its all new they arent gonna know per say if they are having "contractions" or not til they are in full labor. I am going to demand she check for dilation next visit and put me on the monitor. If they arent proactive about it i will be! HAHA
when she said i had a tilted uterus i remembered i went to a GYN here and she said my uterus wasnt in a normal place. that was when i wasnt pregnant tho.... hmm and i guess same as u i dont have problems getting pregnant. 3rd baby we tried for and i got it on the first try. I guess im lucky or very fertile.
Thanks hkchoi!!!
