hi
i recommend dr philip ho (and his fantastic secretary) for ivf treatment in hk. we used icsi as part of our art protocol. dr ho is one of several doctors who do their clinic work at hong kong sanitorium, which has an excellent ivf centre.
if you don't choose dr ho, i still highly recommend the ivf centre (Tel: 852-25748831 Fax: 852-28347048) , which does do icsi. the embryologist is extremely important to the success of your ivf and the embryologists at the hk sanitorium are excellent.
please feel free to post any more questions.

abn, how much does Dr Ho charge for ivf/ICSI?
I haven't been told I need to go down the IVF route yet but just in case........
I'm also using Dr Philip Ho. I've been told to try naturally for another 6 months first and if that doesn't work, then laparoscopy and if that fails, IUI before IVF. So I still have a long way to go... but it's good to find out and save now (just in case).

MayC,
Depending on how much Gonal F you use, the costs of IVF with Dr. Ho will be between HK$70K to HK$80.

Havefaith, thanks but OMG... that is a HUGE sum of money. I have a lump in my throat thinking about how I'm ever going to afford it.
I've been following linlin's thread and although I haven't commented (it's still too early for me), I'm just thinking of how incredibly tough IVF is on a woman, physically, emotionally and financially... and even after all that, to know that it may not work....
I know that Dr Ho is a busy man... but I do hope that for any type of surgery, he won't be rushing through things and that he would give each of us the attention and the care we need because we really put soooo much hope in him.

Hi Mayc -
yeah - IVF is SO Expensive - but let me tell you, it's even MORE in the US. My best friend after 6 years of nothing is trying for her first with IVF next month, and it's costing them almost $100,000 HKD. It's inSANE. Nothing is covered by insurance - and you know - no guarantees.
But yes, I think the struggle with infertility is hard in general. watching my friend this last year - too hard for me to take.

hi may
i can understand your sentiments .... $70k is a lot of money but hkchoichoi is absolutely correct, ivf in the states is extremely expensive.
south africa however, is extremely cheap and if you do a google search on cape town fertility clinic you will learn more about what an excellent clinic it is and it's great rates and results.
i found that dr ho was very busy, but he took the time to answer my questions. they weren't leisurely appointments, but when it came down to things like egg retrieval and transfer, i had 100 per cent his undivided attention and time. plus, he has a great support staff. and a great clinic. so much of the success of ivf rests with the embryologist and lab.
and yes, ivf, the "last resort" is very tough on couples, women in particular. i hope you achieve a healthy pregnancy soon, and that ivf isn't a path you have to follow. keep us posted.

Hi all,
Thank you so much for all the useful information. I am not living in HK, so we need to hire somewhere to stay. It will be extremely expensive for 01 cycle ICSI treatment in HK. Please someone can recomend me where to stay in HK, and the time schedule of treament, how many time I have to visit hopital during the ICSI treament. I also heart about Queen Mary Hopital. Is that good hopital? Which doctor is best? Anyone have experien? And it cost around 50.000 HK$ for ICSI treament. I also understand that for ICSI treatment you need to do atleast 02 or 03 cycle.
