I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks in April this year after having tried for a year. We have been trying again ever since but we were disappointed month after month.
Last month, after consultation with my ob/gyn, I had my ovulation tracked, which involved ultrasound scans every couple of days a few days after my periods started. On my third scan, when my one of my eggs supposedly should have matured, we found out that the egg did not grow at the rate it should have. We were obviously very disappointed, but was glad to find a cause and decided to go on medication on my next round of cycle.
Now, that was a month ago... This month, I was more than a week overdue, and I had this faint hope, even though it didn't seem to make sense at all! I was going to wait a few more days before I did anything, but I couldn't help myself and did a home pregnancy test. It came out POSITIVE!!!
I am obviously over the moon about this result, but it doesn't seem to make sense! Could the egg have grown slowly? Or could the egg not grow and still get fertilized? If so, could this pregnancy end in miscarriage soon?
I need to talk to my ob/gyn about this and have left a message for him to call me back, but at the time being, does anyone have any comments or experience on this??? I am feeling restless, excited, worried all at the same time!!

Hi! First of all congratulations! When you say that the egg was not growing at the rate it should have - at what point in your cycle did you do this scan? Was it at the point when you were about to experience the LH surge? Is it possible that you just have longer than average cycles, and therefore take longer to mature the eggs? If it was good enough to fertilize, don't worry too much! Just schedule an appointment with your doctor to check whether your hcg levels are within normal range. Good luck!!!
