Hi Everyone,

I've been diagnosed with unexplained infertility and have just started the gonal-F injections and my Dr is also recommending an IUI. I want to hear other people's experiences who have gone through or are going through the same thing. Also, does anyone know the success rates for people using gonal -F and IUI's?

Thanks and Baby Dust to all TTC!!

Hi ozcalgal,

Sorry to hear about your situation. I was in the same place a few months ago. We had success after 4 IUIs, 3 of which were with gonal F.

i didn't have any side effects with the injections, i really couldn't see that anything had changed!

I thing the success rate for IUI is about 25% but of course that varies with different people.

We were successful after we stopped drinking alcohol totally and I stopped exercising heavily.

Best of luck,

Petie

Hi, I would like give what I know about this too...

I am on my way with the ICSI programme due to unexplained fertility with low thyroid function.

I had my statistic about ICSI that age 31 success rate is 40-60% with Lupron (Lucrin Luprorelide) + Gonal F (Puregon) injections. YOU get to know your eggs and sperms QUALITY and grading with fertilisation stage.

Although, IVF required more invasive surgery on eggs retrieval but is save a lots of time on trying with IUI (4-6 times) before success (20 - 25% IUI)

If you're having about enough $$$$$$ to standby, I would advises do not waste your time on waiting the IUI as it take longer time compare to IVF.

The injections so far is bearable, and you need to drink a lots of plain water to reduce to OHSS and side effects is bearable with legs tingling only. Take a nap when your body give signal, listen to your body.

SO far, I am on my way to 2nd stage (Lucrin + Puregon) grow to eggs and stop premature ovulates. As my blood test for 1st stage (E2 - Estradiol LUCRIN injection stop ovulation) is GOOD.

Hopefully, to hear good news from you soon.

Regards,

Peggy
