I just did my 2nd IUI with Dr Derek Lo. The first one in Feb was with his partner Dr William so as Dr Lo was on holiday. It was not successful.

Has anyone heard or is seeing Dr Lo?

Any success cases?

i have been seeing Dr. Lo since last Dec for IVF treatment. My first IVF was successful but ended up in m/c at 8 weeks. I found him very knowledgeable and he takes his time with you if you have lots of queries. If you are going down the IVF route, the lab they have (Dr. Derek Lo & William So) is also very good with the top embryolists.

Also, my GF went thru 2 cycles of IUI with Dr. W So last year and she is 8 months pregnant now.

Hi alijbj, I've been following your story. How are you doing?

Hi longing,

I've been doing ok lately. Been seeing Dr. Zhou (the lab) to do acupuncture twice a week and just relaxing for the last couple of weeks. One good news after my last check up in Mar with Dr. Lo was that my FSH came out to be around 5 which is the lowest since. But I had no eggs last cycle so Dr. said to wait out for next cycle. I'm hoping AF would arrive over the weekend.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Hi alijbj,

Is the embryolist called Dr Zhou?

Would you recommend Dr William or Dr Derek?

Hi Highlander,

Yes, the Chief Embryolist is Dr. Zhou Jia. Apparently she also worked in Singapore before moving to HK few years ago. I really like her and her staff, they are very professional and kind hearted. As our chances mainly depend on IVF treatment, the choice of lab is also very important.

I think both Dr. are good. Although I've only been with Dr. Lo, I've heard lots of good comments about Dr. William too. One of my GF told me a couple went to see Dr. William and they got successful on first IUI try. But i believe sometimes you need bit of luck too...if you don't consider the age factor.

that's great alijbj, weren't you at 14 or something before the treatment. You sometimes can't help but be a little skeptical of acupuncture afterall they are just sticking needles in you. That said I've been with Troy Sing for 4 months so let's hope they do work!!!!

Having no eggs one cycle is quite common so doubt if you need to worry too much. Are you planning on another IVF? I've had two already and will probably be doing my last one in June after that I'll probably leave it to the one above.

Hope AF arrives this weekend for you so you can start again. Lots and lots of baby dust to you.

Hi alijbj,

Thanks for the input. Did you have to have any preparation prior to your treatment and during treatment?

Hi longing, may I know what is Troy Sing?

Hi Highlander, Troy does acupuncture in Central. Just search for Troy Sing on this site and you'll find lots of information on him.

Hi longing, yes my fsh was quite high when i first got it checked last nov (fsh: 21, 14, 5) it gradually got lowered and it could have been the needles that's doing the tricks. I'm also taking wheatgrass tablets & primrose oil supplements as there were suggestions that these would lower the fsh. AF just arrived so I'll be visiting Dr. Lo tomm to see if we can start another IVF cycle. let's see how it goes!

Hi highlander, in terms of preparation, not much if you don't have a high fsh. i would say the mental preparation is more important. also, i'm avoiding papaya, bitter melon & cucumber as some studies say that it affects fertility. in fact, when i had embryo transferred, dr. lo warned me not to eat papaya & bitter melon during implantation.

I'm also seeing Dr Lo but have had to give up the idea of IUI as we are based in GZ. I like him a lot, for his knowledge, his bed side manner and the fact that he really DOES take time with you. And while doing that, the waiting time isn't more than 30 minutes so there is definitely a really good system in place.

Alijbj, how much does an IUI cycle cost, would you know?

Hi alijbj,

May I know if your girlfriend has gone through the short or long protocol IUI with Dr So?

hi kmom

i believe IUI cycle costs around HK$20K depending on the meds you use.

hi highlander,

i think it was a short protocol. just like ivf, started the injections on CD3 until ovulation.

hope this helps.
