Hi there
I'm 6 months pregnant and am really suffering with leg pains - especially at night. I have very bad water retention too and swelling during the day.
I do try to put my feet up in the day and I sleep with my legs raised but it's still painful and I have trouble sleeping. Does anyone have any suggestions?
thanks

Welcome to the world of pregnancy! I too suffer from terrible leg cramps and did with my first pregnancy also. At night I pace the floors, I find walking or just simply standing on the cool tiles helps ease the pain. There is really not a great deal you can do, except at every opportunity try to rest. I am also suffering from terrible sciatic pain and find that doing leg stretches for that also helps a bit with the other general leg achiness. Have you spoken to your doctor about support stockings? I sometimes wear them as I have terrible varicose veins with this pregnancy and again it seems to just take the edge off the pain a little, although don't wear them at night, just when you are walking around and resting up on the lounge. I am just trying to focus on light at the end of the tunnel when I get my body back. Mind you, then there are a whole new set of things to deal with! Good luck!

To minimize swelling, make sure you're well-hydrated. It seems counter intuitive, but drinking sufficient quantities of water is supposed to reduce water retention from what I've read.
