Hi, I would be more than grateful if I can have your opinion on prams.
We narrowed our list of prams down to Peg Perego or Ingelsina after so many times of going to the baby shops but, cannot decide on which. My husband thinks that the Ingelsina made ones are more easy to turn and "practical"(it folds up easily) where as I find Peg Perego ones more easy to handle( I do not feel the weight of the pram when handling) and see a lot of mothers using it.
I see my husband using it on weekends, and weekdays, myself, and we have a big hill right in front of our house to conquer to get to any public transportation.
If anyone knows the pros and cons of these 2 prams or any other pram or how they decided on the their pram, it would help us a million.
Thank you very much!!

Go compact! If you have a car or use taxi's all the time, then an absolute must is the Maxi Cose with Quinny frame. Really light and can be strapped into a taxi in the back in just a second. The frame folds down really easy and you can store it by your feet in the taxi. If you have a car, then you can buy the base and you just take the capsule in and our of the car, no need to get the baby out.
We also have a standard pram which is the Graco Citi or metrolite, I can't remember which but it's basically really small, only 3.8 kilos so light as a feather and has the one handed fold and open which is a must!
We originally had the Chicco which is similar in size to the Peg Perego and we tossed up between the Chicco & the Peg and unless you have a car, forget it. It's a hassle. Way too big and cumbersome in this city. You need light, compact and easy to manoeuvre. We learnt the hard way. As nice as these big beautiful, trendy looking prams are, they are just not practical in this country.
I got our Maxi Cosi from 0/3 baby in Ocean Terminal and our Graco from Eugene Club. I would suggest to check them out and then you can rule out what you don't won't. 0/3 baby also have the Peg range, so you can compare the maxi cosi.
My apologies if I have just thrown a spanner in the works after all your research!

sorry, i dont know either of those but it is important what you think rather than your husband on this one - as you are the one who are going to do most of the pushing the buggy around - so go with what YOU find comfortable - no disrespect to our dear husbands!

Hi neenib, Idsllvn, thank you for your replies.
Idsllvvn, thank you for reminding me that point!! Yes indeed, I should be comfortable handling it!! I almost forgot that because it was simply really nice to see my husband getting really into this and I really did not want to waste his effort.
neenib, thank you so much about your tips, and glad to know about the "compact" aspect. We never included that in the considerations and I think we should redo the list, we still have 3 months!! I think tomorrow will be a day in 0/3 baby test driving around the shop shamelessly!!
-If i may ask, why do you have 2 prams? I was thinking of going with one(buying the attachments). Is it better that we separate the sit up type prams?
- Also, do you use the baby baby bjorn very much either than prams?
Thank you so much for the insights, it is so much worth!!

Peg Perego was our choice and has been super good - tough as well which is also a consideration here. One aspect for use was the size, compact pushchairs were fine for my wife but for me I had to bend double to push, not good and kills the back.
The words I see used above is "absolute must" - which is used entirely out of context. For that person it's an absolute must but not for all. You may not use taxi's all the time. Your husband may push the pushchair as much as you (myself and my wife is around 50/50).
Go with what you are comfortable with! We did and no complaints!

We found it an "absolute must" for us, after having dealt with larger prams and it was cumbersome having to always fold it up and put it in the boot, when with the Quinny, I simply folded it down quickly and popped it by my feet inside the taxi. I don't know if xshoequeen will use taxi's alot or not, but I am going by my own experience.
xshoequeen, we have two prams because whilst the maxi cosi is great for using in cars/taxis, I also found that if we were out for a whole day for instance, it was nice to have the pram with the reclining backrest to give our baby "up and down" time. There was also a bit more room for him to move around in.
We have a baby carrier which I will use when he gets a little older when his neck is stronger. My friend uses it all the time for her daughter, especially in taxi's (she doesn't have a carseat) and she takes a pram with her. She uses the carrier for support and safety when she is folding the pram and also inside the taxi.
As evildeeds said, go with what you are comfortable with.
Most new mums also have a cracking sore back from bending constantly and picking up baby, so having some light & compact makes a big difference to me.
We bought the Chicco as a whole set, carseat, base, pram which was reversible, etc., and it wasn't right for us, as I said too big and cumbersome. I feel much more confident getting around the city in a compact setup. Depending on what I'm doing I choose which pram I am going to use, mostly at this stage it's the maxi cosi, but once the weather cools down I will start using the pram a bit more as I will walk to pick up my child from school.

Hi evildeeds, Hi neenib, thank you very much for the inputs!!!
Yesterday, we went to Ocean Terminal to see with fresh eyes and the infos you gave us,which turned out to be a "test driving the pram in chaos" situation. The whole baby material industry must be booming even with the financial meltdown!!! We now fully understand the importance of comfort and I think we will buy one next week after test driving the candidates again. Our candidates including Maxi Cosi Quinny frame and Peg Perego (sorry Inglesina...) were so comfortable that we couldn't decide which to start out with!!!
Anyway, thank you so much for you kind informations, it has helped us a million as I never pushed a pram in my life!!!
Have an excellent evening and best wishes to your family!!

We have the Quinny Buzz frame and the Maxi Cosi car seat and we love them. Only downside with the Buzz is that it is heavy especially if you have to lift it by yourself up stairs with baby in it. I think it weighs about 12kgs. It is very versatile though in that you can have the seat reclined (for newborn), flat and upright as well as forward and backward facing. Also the one button unfold is great.

PS - there is also a Quinny Zapp which is lighter - it may be the one which neenib has. Quinny have an impressive range of add ons too - we were scepital about the Dreami bassinet attachment but our baby slept in this constantly in the first 3 months.

Yep, we have the Quinny Zapp. It really is very versitile. I just really love it for the taxi side of things and the comfort in knowing that my baby is strapped in well.

Hi there Starbucks2 and neenib, I think my baby is really fortunate to have all these tips for him or her!!
We have decided on the Quinny frame but, I have a question.
- Either than the weight, what is the difference between Zapp and Buzz?
-Can I use the bassinet at home as well or strap the baby on the car seat while I really have to use both hands, or is it not home adaptable? If I can, it would be really nice as our baby has been the victim of our minimize things campaign, our flat is small that we are seriously thinking that we might need to set up a tent on our terrace as a storage room!!!
Once again, thank you so much for your inputs!!!

neenib can correct me on the Zapp but I understand the differences as follows (we did originally look at both before we decided on the Buzz):
* the Buzz has an air filled tyre (better shock absorbancy) and generally the tyres are larger
* I understand that you cannot use the bassinet attachment on the Zapp frame
* the Buzz goes completely flat (which you need for a newborn) whereas the Zapp only to a recline position
* the Buzz has front and rear facing seat - I believe that the Zapp does not
* the Buzz has an optional shopping basket underneath (fabulous) and an optional Buzz Box which is a bag that hooks over the stroller at the back by the wheels (super fab - we often use as the nappy bag when we are out because it fits in an awful lot)
If you have a look at the Quinny website I think it has a compare between the two.
We used the Quinny bassinet attachment for all of our baby's sleeps until he was 3 months old - ie: we didn't use his cot or any other moses basket type thing. We either keep the bassinet on the Quinny frame or just moved it around on the floor (out of the frame) from his room to the living room etc. We were really surprised how useful it was. Especially good if you are visiting friends or out and about as they can have a proper good sleep in a proper bed-like environment. It is not very secure for long stroller trips (as it does not have straps) so I would not be taking the baby up hills in the stroller with the bassinet attached as they can slide around inside it. But it is good for flat road trips (not bumpy) or more likely when you are going somewhere and then will be stationary while the baby sleeps. Once our baby grew out of the bassinent we moved to the cot (they say that they grow out of the bassinet between 3 and 6 months depending on the length of the baby).
We also used a Baby Bjorn when he was very small as easy to carry him around in rather than a stroller sometimes.

yes, everything is as you said, except for the reclining. The Zapp does not recline which I was a little put off about, but given my baby can stay in the car seat for up to nearly 12 months, I didn't see it as much of an issue. I particularly like the smaller wheels so when folded, it's just basically this little frame.
We actually store our carseat & frame just under the dining table at the end, so we aren't kicking it every time we walk past.
The carseat has a needs to be clipped out with two hands although carrying it with one hand is light enough. There is no need to get baby out of the carseat. If you are going for the carseat option as well, I strongly suggest you also purchase the isofix/easyfix base. It's fantastic, the car seat simply clicks and out.
I think I mentioned we bought ours from 0/3 at Ocean Terminal, the staff there were really fantastic and we spent ages in there, trying things out. As SB2 says, go to the website, http://www.quinny.com/quinny/default.aspx.

agree w neenib - we have Zapp and it is a pain that it does not recline - AT ALL! so we only can take kids out in it for a little while - no way they can sleep in it (once you are past the clip in car seat stage). People tend to swear by McLarren buggies - but i have not had experience with them i am afraid..

Hi SB2, neenib, Idsllvn, wowza, thank you very much, my ideas on prams have been really cleared!! We will go for our final test drive this weekend and purchase, one item down!
Once again, thank you so much for your inputs!

Hi, it's me again.....
Now that I have my pram chosen, I have another silly question...........
How do I use the bassinet/ car seat/ baby carrier while moving on a taxi.
For example, I go down to catch a taxi using the bassinet.
I get the baby safely locked into the carrier, detach the bassinet and place the baby on the car seat and get on the taxi?
Or can i just carry around the bassinet and use the baby carrier on the taxi?
According to my simulation so far, ok, there's me, the baby, they baby bag, shopping bag, and on top of that, the moving bassinet, a car seat and a carrier which sounds like an enormous amount of luggage and good excuse for extra charge from the taxi, I am suspecting that I have something wrong here.
????????

Okay, I'm working on the maxi cosi and quinny system because that is what I have. When I go out, I put the carseat into the quinny frame. I have an enormous handbag that can hold everything (typical woman!), so that's all I take, no extra napy bags, etc. By the way, take the essentials, no need to pack for a week.
I take the carseat out of the frame, fold the frame and place it on the floor of the taxi. I then place the carseat in the back seat and put the seatbelt around the hooks on the carseat. Done!
I'm not sure on the bassinet as I don't have one, when we are out and out, my baby sleeps in the carseat. That's all you need. It clicks in and out of the quinny frame.
Hope that helps:)

Hi neenib, thank you so much for the action details!! These things are the things that really worry me because it is not on books, only parents can relax me!!
I guess I will use the bassinet in the house and for a walk across to the road to the park and stick to carseats for moving around. Even that sounds like a big job to do compared to just raising your hand and hopping in!!
Once again, thank you so much!! Have a nice day!!

No problems, it really is quite daunting when you first go through it, but within a couple of weeks you will be wondering why you stressed out about it in first place!
As for the bassinet, in all honesty I personally wouldn't bother with it, you baby will sleep quite happily in the carseat. I often take my baby out for a walk in just the carseat, it's nice and snug and they can be strapped in securely for when you are going over the bumps in the road or pathway. Maybe wait a little bit until after the baby is born and then see how he/she goes in the carseat and take it from there.
Good Luck with everything!

No one has mentioned the Bugaboo Bee. This is a decent one for HK because it is fairly compact smaller than the Quinny Buzz but more bulky than the Quinny Zapp. Also doubles as a travel system.
Not the cheapest around though

Hi,
Our 2nd babe is due in early Jan, we will have 2 under 2. We have been using the McLaren for our first - but would like to change to a 2 babe carrier. Has anyone tried the Phil & teds 2 seater stroller (I can't remember the exact name)?
Please support our advertisers:
Hey Gabriella.I have read some good reviews about Phil & teds double stroller. But when compared with Hauck tandem stroller it has some drawbacks.I am using Hauck Tandem stroller for my children.I bought it from www.icoobaby.co.uk .I suggest you to have it.
