FET - What's Involved?

I was wondering if anyone can tell me what's the procedure involved in an FET? I have some frozen embies left from my IVF 2 years ago and now want to do an FET. The embies were frozen after Day 3, so would the transfer take place a few days after ovulation? Do you have to take any drugs to prepare for the transfer?

HI Iolana, was wondering if you found out what the FET process was? I'm also considering it since my IVF failed. tx

hi

a FET is much less invasive to your body than an ivf. it is also much less expensive...hooray!

technically, there are two types of FET's...non medicated and medicated. my three FET's were medicated - to ensure my uterus was ready, and then the charming progesterone afterwards. of course there is no trigger shot like with a fresh transfer. while some clinics will let you go the unmediated route, in my experience, most clnics like you to go the medicated route.

individual clinics vary slightly with their FET protocol (when to start the drugs, when to go in for ultrasounds to check for the triple stripe lining), but overall the procedure is pretty general. here's a basic overview to get you started:

good luck, hope this helps.
