Quick question... I had a DnC yesterday following complications with an early first pregnancy

How long is acceptable to be off work.. how quickly should I go back (bearing in mind I ave already been on bed rest for two weeks threatening to miscarry) I am beginning to feel a little flakey with my job but the doc is signing me off for another week

And also can people share with me how much they have paid for this sort of procedure

Hi Jupiter105,

I am sorry about your loss - I know it's not the easiest of times.

I took a week off when I had a D & C in Feb. The procedure was done at the Matilda and my insurance covered it so I really didn't pay that much attention to the bill - from recall though I think it was around HKD$20K.

I can understand the concern over being percieved to be flaky. However, if you need more time then that is more important than what others may think.

Take care.

Jupiter105,

Soory to hear your loss. I had it done both in 2007 and 2006 - at Canossa, Adventist and Matilda. Each time was between 15K to 20K. I took 2 days off each time - one day for the procedure and one day after. Physically you probably dont need to rest for more than that - but emotionally you do. For me, I wanted to get back to the office to avoid staying at home crying out my eyes. I needed the distraction of work - so that I would not be thinking about the loss.

I agree with Gabriella you should not be concered with what people think - it is more important you do the right thing for you.

Take care,

HF

mine took about 4 weeks, but was all over the place for several month after - 26 day cycle, then 25, then 24, then 23, THEN 27 again this month. This makes ttc rather tricky!

Saying that, it has taken me 4-5 months to feel ready to try again.

Thanks all for you comments I finally got my period after almost 8 weeks and it's a huge relief actually.. it's kind of drawn a line under the whole thing and I feel much better about the world today

Just looking forward to in a few months trying all over again
