This is really planning ahead but...What happens once you do get that call saying you have been matched? How long is the process from then to bringing baby/child home?

I believe is about 2 weeks. This is what my caseworker told me. The medical records will be faxed to you first, and then you visit the child and bond with the child and get ready for the child's arrival. And then in 2 weeks, you can bring the child home. And if I remember correctly, my caseworker said, 2 weeks is the maximum. But don't take it for me, I'm still in the pool of waiting parents to be.

It depends on the child's age and situation.
Usually if it a baby (newborn to approx. 7 months) it is 2 weeks (max usually). Our friends, brought there little boy home 1 week later. Older children there is a bonding period. Our daughter was 18 months old, so there was a 4 week bonding time. Day outings, overnights stays at our home.

Could someone tell me how I can find out the costs--costs of homestudy, legal fees, admin fees, etc? Thanks.

Really there are no costs except the payment for court fees (around $3,000) which is paid during the 6 month placement. The other costs are just general costs of getting to/from workshops....interviews.....passport etc after 6 month placement.....

The court fee is due to the HK Govt for the court proceeding which is usually 6 months after the child comes home and the case worker OK all the follow-up home visits. There are NO other costs to any bodies involved in Hong Kong. But for those who may want to take the child back to their home countries, like the US, then they may have their own procedure which could involve agencies/costs.
